Role

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the loan servicing department. Provide quality service to members while servicing mortgage, consumer, and commercial loans. Provide training, guidance, and support to employees within the servicing area. Responsible for adherence to all FNMA investor servicing requirements. Supervise a variety of servicing functions to include account research, account adjustments and corrections, resolving member disputes, processing GAP life and disability insurance claims. Provide oversight of insurance tracking, real estate tax processing, new and renewed loan file reviews, file scanning, and responses to loan inquiries.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

30% - Manage direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company, including hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies, and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and termination, as appropriate. Train staff for system enhancements and procedure changes.

20% - Ensure FNMA servicing and remittance policies are adhered to. Manage investor reporting process. Submit investor quality control requests within the prescribed timeframes.

20% - Research, resolve and respond to servicing requests and assist staff and members with problem resolution. Write correspondence to members as needed. Perform recalculations and adjustments on member accounts and make necessary entries to correct loan history. Facilitate due date changes, interest adjustments and member refunds.

10% - Support and coordinate internal and external audit preparations. Review loan files to ensure complete documentation according to company and regulatory standards. Follow up on exceptions to complete file. Audit set up of loans on the loan servicing system. Make action recommendations to manager as appropriate and assist with/ delegate special projects as needed.

10% - Stay abreast of all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control and HMDA. Facilitate HMDA LAR reporting. Ensure staff is trained and compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.

10% - Administer Credit Life and Disability, GAP, and Collateral Protection Insurance programs. Track property & casualty insurance on the loan portfolio. Monitor real estate tax and insurance reports and ensure real estate taxes and insurance coverage is maintained by members.

Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience

Three to five years of similar or related experience, including experience in loan operations, and processing, plus two years of management experience at a level commensurate with the responsibilities of the position. Experience in working in a credit union environment with loan servicing data processing systems is also preferred. Experience in loan operations and processing. Experience in working with loan servicing data processing systems. Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities. Strong knowledge of FNMA and HMDA LAR procedures and reporting. Ability to analyze and interpret regulatory materials, financial reports, and legal documents. Must be able to analyze and compile data, create management reports, and report findings to management.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

A college degree in a related field is preferred.

Interpersonal Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills especially under stressful deadlines.

Other Skills

Computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Windows, and Excel.

Physical Requirements

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine offce equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
