Responsibilities

Note: Consultations will be project based and will span 1-4 weeks per engagement.

Position Summary:

The SAM Lead CSD Consultant acts as a Central Service expert and liaison between SAM Sales, AIC & AIS Sales, and other Aesculap internal and external customers. This position requires a unique blend of clinical and fiscal knowledge to ensure the needs of the customer are met during SAM related projects. The SAM Lead CSD Consultant will lead all aspects of the Surgical Asset Management Project from Quick Scan, Asset Analysis and Asset Optimization to include communication, operational activities and execution. These functions will help to ensure that project goals and objectives are accomplished with high quality, within established time frames, budget commitments to meet the customer business needs.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Leads all aspects of SAM projects from beginning to completion.
  • Functions as the on-site expert and liaison between the SAM Operations leader, sales, and the customer for all SAM activities.
  • Directs the activities of the CSD Consultant during SAM projects.
  • Ability to teach instrument condition with regards to identifying, analysis, evaluation of surgical and laparoscopic instrumentation, container systems for various flaws such as (surface corrosion, friction corrosion, pitting corrosion, stress fractures, damage, etc)
  • Ability to articulate the benefits of Quick Scan, Asset Analysis and Asset Optimization services.
  • Assists with the implementation of consulting programs and contracts.
  • Supports large sales projects related to SAMs accounts.
  • Demonstrates superior working knowledge of equipment and personnel in CSD.
  • Ability to articulate CSD workflow, staffing, and best practice according to national recommended standards and practice.
  • Demonstrates excellent guest relations with internal and external customers.
  • Exposed to confidential material concerning expenses, personnel, and patients. Maintains confidentiality regarding pertinent information.
  • Ability to evaluate, troubleshoot and make difficult decisions.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of leadership within Aesculap and our customersup to and including the CEO, COO, CFO, and CNO.
  • Varies working hours as needed to assure effective consultation.
  • Performs job functions without direct supervision.
  • Maintains corporate ethics and compliance expectations.
  • Has direct contact with other departmental and professional employees, physicians and their staff, sales representatives, and the general public.
  • Requires good interpersonal skills to resolve issues between employees, other department personnel and surgeons, and to promote cooperation between the various functions within each area of responsibility.
  • Requires broad and specific knowledge in the use of medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Support Sales, Corporate Accounts and Contracts in designing new proposals including value added consulting services.
  • Must comply with applicable ISO and FDA regulations as stated in Quality Manual

Secondary or peripheral job functions:

  • Serves as consulting expert and interfaces with various departments within the organization regarding consulting services and issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Works with various levels of personnel, including but not limited to Registered Nurses, Sr. PCMS Coordinators, PCMS Coordinators, and PCMS Technicians and CSSD Consultants.

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect date, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Qualifications

Expertise: Qualifications-Experience/Training/Education/Etc


Required:

  • BA or BS preferred.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM), or equivalent.
  • Certification in Healthcare Leadership (CHL) from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management or equivalent
  • Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management or equivalent
  • Certification in LEAN Management or 6 Sigma preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in a management position required.
  • 5 - 10 years experience in Peri-operative Services or Central Service Departments preferred.
  • Maintains current knowledge of federal regulations and other regulatory bodies; i.e. JCAHO, CMS, OSHA, AAMI, AORN, FDA and other standards as applicable to various areas.
  • Computer skills in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite of products, Word, Excel, and Power Point required.
  • Specific skills: product and clinical knowledge, great organizational, interpersonal, sales, leadership, customer relations, analytics, communicative and managerial skills.
