UPCI Basic Research Administration - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (22005908)

The newly formed Stallaert Lab (stallaertlab.com) at the Hillman Cancer Center and the Department of Computational and Systems Biology is looking for a lab manager. We use cutting edge microscopy techniques to study cancer cell proliferation.We are searching for an individual that would relish the opportunity to help establish a research laboratory and oversee its day-to-day operations. The lab manager will also have the opportunity to conduct independent research, work with research collaborators, and co-author manuscripts. Duties will include managing research projects and equipment, maintaining inventory, establishing and overseeing lab protocols, routine molecular/cellular biology work (e.g. mammalian cell/tissue culture, Western blotting, DNA cloning), as well as specialized techniques in quantitative fluorescent microscopy (e.g. immunofluorescence, time-lapse imaging). We are looking for an energetic individual that likes to build and organize things, is detail-oriented and a good communicator, and enjoys working with other people.

We are searching for someone with a Master's degree in Biology (or related science) with at least three years of experience working in an academic research lab, as well as candidates that have a four-year Bachelor's degree with adequate and relevant research experience. A background in cell biology, cancer biology, pharmacology or pathology is preferred and previous experience in fluorescence microscopy and image analysis is highly desirable but not required. We will provide extensive training in all required skills for the successful candidate.
