The Applications Manager's role is to supervise and maintain the organization's repository of software applications through best practices and the staffing and management of a technical team. The Applications Manager is also responsible for planning and coordinating the processes required for the provision of user applications and systems necessary for business operations. This individual will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist the business user group on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.


  • Manage and provide direction for the application team in support of business operations.
  • Be a pro-active business partner and liaise with various functional users across multiple business units to understand their issues and requirements, identify opportunities for process improvement and IT solutions to digitize the lean processes.
  • Ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Research and make recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Maintain application databases and implement solutions to ensure business operational continuity.
  • Evaluate, install, configure, and deploy new applications, systems software, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the organization.
  • Ensure the vendor proposals in the purchase of software and technical services meet technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications.
  • Provide support to internal users of company-approved software that may involve periodic training.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervises employees in the department
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including Health and Safety, Investors in People, Sarbanes Oxley, Quality Standards, Environmental Policy, and Ethics Policy.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; employee development; planning, assigning and directing work, apprising performance; rewarding and disciplining, employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Provides employment development and coaching to direct reports

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and organizes work areas for efficiency and safety.
  • Provides status reports to management as required.
  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in information systems or Equivalent is required.
  • 10+ years' experience in IT Applications Life Cycle Management and end-user support.
  • 3+ years of proven experience delivering solutions that leverage Cloud platforms, RPA, and Web Applications.
  • Experience in and knowledge of upstream oil & gas industry.
  • Proven management experience in fast-paced growth environment.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentations skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Excellent creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer-service orientation; experience leading through and executing cross functional initiatives across multiple lines of business; ability to bring alignment to drive projects to completion.
  • Strong understanding of Infrastructure and Development concepts to drive efficiency and continuous improvement within the applications groups.
