World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world's leading conservation organizations, seeks a Media & External Affairs Intern, Earth Hour 2021.

Major Function

The Media & External Affairs Earth Hour Intern manages all outreach and tracking for Earth Hour, focusing on reaching out to landmarks, cities, and universities to increase lights out participation numbers for Earth Hour 2021. The intern also assists in communications tasks as needed, including drafting materials and developing media lists.

About Earth Hour

Every year millions of people around the world participate in WWF's flagship Earth Hour campaign. During Earth Hour, individuals, businesses and cities turn off their lights for one hour to show their commitment to protecting nature.

• Outreach to landmarks for lights out (includes reaching out to past participants as well as identifying new participants)
• Outreach to cities for lights out (includes reaching out to past participants as well as identifying new participants)
• Outreach to universities for lights out (includes reaching out to past participants as well as identifying new participants)
• Handles all incoming questions regarding Earth Hour from potential participants
• Media relations support
• Celebrity relations support
• Analytics post-Earth Hour
• Other duties as needed

Skills and Abilities

• Strong research skills are required.
• Media relations experience a plus.
• Strong organizational/analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively over email and the phone.
• Highly motivated, self-starter who knows how to take projects and run with them.
• A Bachelor's degree in communications is preferred.
• Ability to work full time or no less than 4 days per week for the duration of the internship.
• Spanish language proficiency is a plus, though not required.
