Human Resources Manager

This is a hybrid role which can be based in our Schaumburg or downtown Chicago office.

The Human Resources Manager will provide day-to-day operational oversight in all HR areas including recruiting, employee relations, performance management, training and development, policy/procedure interpretation, regulatory compliance, compensation, and special projects. This person will report to and serve as a strategic partner to the Sr. Director of HR to ensure the building of a high-performance organization and culture.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Sr. Director of HR to understand and execute the organizations human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, performance management and succession planning.
  • Provide support and guidance to HR team, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Serve as point person for employee relations. Will provide counsel and guidance to managers and staff to help resolve challenges which may include documented disciplinary actions/expectations.
  • Actively capture, analyze and report data/metrics to identify HR needs within the business, with an eye toward developing possible solutions.
  • Serve as a contributor and a proactive agent in the development and delivery of diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Assist with culture management that allows for SOA to be viewed as a premier employer.
  • Work with the business in resource planning, including recruiting, job evaluation, and identification of professional development needs. Assist with the goal setting, advancement and compensation processes within the business.
  • Lead the assessment of professional development and training needs for employee skill advancement. Help to determine what organizational training will have the most impact on employee development and evaluate resources, consultants, and training partners to meet those needs.
  • In partnership with the Sr. Director, analyze trends in compensation; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of five years of human resource management experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
