The Opportunity

Resource Development Associates (RDA) is seeking a team member who enjoys telling compelling stories and piecing together information to craft masterful narratives. Ideal candidate would be a highly motivated individual with superb writing skills, attention to detail, and experience writing on deadline. The Grant Writer will support achievement of the RDA mission by working with cross-functional teams to develop competitive grant proposals, letters of interest, and other responses to government and foundation solicitations.

About RDA

For more than 35 years, RDA has provided consultation to public, private, and social sector organizations working across the public safety net system to address persistent social, health, and economic problems. Our services include research, assessment, planning, grant writing, organizational development, training and coaching, facilitation, data system development, and evaluation. We believe in working collaboratively with one another and with our clients, and that curiosity and compassion are keys to making progress.

What You Will Achieve in Your First Year

As a Grant Writer, you will be a critical member of the Business Development Team. You'll collaborate with our multidisciplinary consulting teams and leverage your top-notch writing skills to promote RDAs impacts and outcomes and win contracts. In addition, you will develop compelling proposals for our clients, who are local government and community-based organizations working at the intersection of homelessness and health, justice, and social services systems. Primary responsibilities relate to preparation of competitive proposals and grant applications, which will include research into models and best practices, facilitation of program and system design efforts, and administrative functions in support of proposal development in areas that support RDAs mission. At times you will also be called upon to support the organization by copyediting proposals and client deliverables. Here is a sample of what you can expect to experience in your first year:

Support RDA and Clients with Writing Needs

  • Support development and writing of responses to funding opportunities for our clients who utilize our grant writing services
  • Draft and submit written responses to RFPs and RFQs for RDA
  • Facilitate concept and proposal development meetings to ensure competitive and responsive proposals
  • Copyedit and QA proposals and client deliverables that are produced by our consulting teams
  • Work collaboratively with project staff and team members to ensure highest quality work
  • Track deadlines and details related to proposal submission
  • Work directly with client(s) to develop concepts, gather and present information, write drafts, and obtain approvals necessary for submission

What Youll Bring to RDA

  • Demonstrated ability to present information in clear, concise writing for technical and lay audiences
  • Ability to assemble information including project nature, objectives, outcomes, deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation
  • Passion for addressing issues of poverty and race, belief in the value of public and social sector systems, and a persistent interest in keeping abreast of challenges and innovations in these areas
  • Capacity to learn quickly and in a self-directed manner
  • Previous grant writing, budget development, and proposal management experience
  • Knowledge of grant application process, scoring criteria, and funding cycles
  • Graduate degree in English, Journalism, Media or related field preferred; experience may replace education
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience as a successful grant writer, preferably in RDAs impact areas

Benefits of Working at RDA

  • Dynamic and collaborative workplace
  • Family-friendly environment with accommodating schedules
  • Flexible vacation time off policy (not accrual-based)
  • 100% RDA-sponsored health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance for employees
  • 401k and Roth IRA, with RDA discretionary match at 1 year
  • Pre-tax flexible spending accounts for medical, dependent care, transit, and parking expenses
  • Access to discounted retail products and services

Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion

RDA is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to equitable and inclusionary hiring practices. We strongly encourage applicants from all cultural backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, genders, and ages to apply.

When Applying

Include a resume, cover letter, references, and 1-2 work samples; redacted samples will be accepted. All work samples are kept confidential.
