Position Purpose

Supervises the day to day activities of the Geisel Finance Center staff to ensure outstanding customer service to customers with emphasis on timeliness and accuracy of transactions. Works in collaboration to plan work, accurately process financial transactions, address issues, and improve processes. Works with the Finance Center Director and Geisel administrative leadership to identify areas of continuous improvement to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Geisel fiscal operations.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Staff Supervision
• Ensures appropriate staff coverage, both in the office and on the phone.
• Works with the Finance Center Director to hire, set performance goals, and perform performance evaluations of staff.
• Encourages and fosters a positive team-oriented working environment through effective communications and management.
Operational Management
• Responsible for flow and resolutions of financial transactions.
• Works with the Director and others to analyze business processes to identify productivity and cost savings measures on a continual basis.
• Collaborates with Central Finance and Administration organizations on operational issues.
• Works closely with other Finance Centers in identifying issues, continued process improvement opportunities and recommending and implementing solutions.
• Supports testing and uses established procedures for scheduled upgrades or system changes.
• Ensures that processes are performed according to Dartmouth policy, federal and state guidelines.
• Elevates concerns to Leadership and/or Risk and Internal Controls of any non-compliant issues
Customer Service
• Delivers services according to standards and procedures established by management.
• Takes ownership of inquiries and resolves issues.
• Accurately identifies and handles customer issues based upon telephone, electronic, or in person interviews and executes effective method for resolution.
• Understands relevant Dartmouth College policies and provides policy interpretation.
• Executes follow-up as necessary to assure timely response.
• Recognizes technical issues and notifies technical support for resolution and follow-up.
• Delivers exceptional customer service, ensures responsiveness and accuracy.
• Utilizes multiple systems to obtain and record information.
Transaction Processing, Review and Reporting
• Ensures compliance with Dartmouth College policies and advises department members with respect to those policies.
• Responsible for the accurate review, interpretation, and data entry of requests into the financial management systems.
• Proactively escalates critical or expertise specific issues to Manager.
• May perform basic reconciliations, identifies, researches and corrects errors on a timely basis.
• May perform audits of transactions and communicate with customers to resolve issues.
• May prepare basic reports in Excel and Word.

Planning and Projects
• Works with Finance Center leadership to ensure procedures are documented, implemented and routinely reviewed and updated.
• Represents the Geisel Finance Center on financial systems projects ensuring that the business needs are appropriately represented
• Works with the Finance Center Director to ensure appropriate staffing and planning of resource allocation.
Development
• Cross trains with other team members to assure adequate coverage, accurate and consistent information and timeliness.
• Attends functional workshops, training in order to remain/become proficient in necessary systems standards.
• Attends personal development training workshops.
