Vail Place is seeking a Finance Manager to be a trusted member of the finance team.

This position is responsible for management of the general ledger, including cash management, revenue, expenses, receivables, payables, and other GL areas.

This individual provides support to the Finance Director for timely month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, reporting, external audits, and other cost, management, and variance analysis. This individual also works with several other teams across the agency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

Cash Management:

  • Prepare cash projections create effective forecasting and decision aides for weekly payable processing
  • Daily and weekly account reconciliations

Accounts Payable

  • Provide leadership to the accounts payable team by ensuring effective operations and activities of a centralized accounts payable function
  • Review and verify invoices, expense reports, and other payment documents for authorization approvals, account classification, program allocation and adherence to policies and procedures with regard to disbursements
  • Meet financial statement timelines ensuring accounts payable is closed in preparation for month-end processes
  • Formulate, recommend, and implement changes to department policy or procedure to meet operational needs, improve accuracy, and efficiency while ensuring integrity of the accounts payable system

Revenue Cycle Management and Grant Billing

  • Provide leadership to the revenue cycle team by ensuring efficient and effective daily workflow
  • Communicate daily with the revenue cycle team to resolve disputes, denials and general nonpayment issues
  • Provide experience and expertise in payer policies and protocol
  • Oversee the process of resolving outstanding balances with payers before writing off to bad debt, transferring to the next payer level or patient responsibility
  • Read and understand Grant terms and conditions and translate them into billing procedures
  • Monitor program budgets and grant expenditures and coordinate with Program managers to ensure the spend down of all grant funds
  • Assist in the preparation of the administrative components of proposals within parameters of funder guidelines
  • Manage cash applications making sure all cash receipts are applied properly
  • Monitor for and identify overpayments and follow process of recording and returning funds

Other

  • Contribute to payroll processing working with H.R. Dept.
  • Comply with required filings by local, state, and federal agencies for agency licensure and management
  • Monthly journal entries
  • Develop and communicate reports supporting project status; create effective forecasting and decision aides
  • Participate in and contribute to process improvements
  • Work with and collaborate with other teams across the agency in a virtual platform
  • Participate in regular meetings with team, operations, and management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 4-6+ years in experience in an accounting/finance role with some management experience
  • Excellent communications (written and verbal) skills and customer service skills
  • Firm knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sound judgement
  • Strong excel skills as well as knowledge of ERP systems/reporting tools
  • Detail oriented with both the ambition and willingness to dive into the details to accomplish responsibilities and solve problems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills/ability to continually prioritize workload and respond to top priorities with a sense of urgency.
  • Provide specialized content expertise in state and federal government contracts and grants management, reviewing grant funding applications and contracts
  • Provide support and training to Clubhouse staff regarding business/service center management.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred

Salary and Benefits

$76,000 83,000 Depending on Qualifications. Full Benefits Package including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, long term disability, matched 401K. Paid time off in Year 1 includes generous vacation & sick/safe time, plus 2 personal days and 12 paid holidays.
