The Executive Director, Global Continuous Improvement is expected to be a strong Lean practitioner with exceptional coaching and mentoring skills. This role provides the opportunity to work and influence all levels of the organization, up to and including the Executive Leadership Team (ELT). The successful incumbent will be responsible for identifying and developing a pipeline of talent for sustainable and scalable continuous improvement across the enterprise.


  • Implements and maintains a global continuous improvement mindset, promoting a systemic cultural change, defining and deploying the MSA Business System to achieve the business goals across all the organization.
  • Coaches ELT and continuous improvement practitioner working teams in continuous improvement and the MSA Business System.
  • Leads and mentors continuous improvement leaders.
  • Develops and gains buy-in for improvement programs and projects in alignment with the Corporate strategy.
  • Provides input and guidance for enterprise level improvement projects.
  • Models the behaviors to support the MSA Business System.
  • Establishes a train-the-trainer program for Lean and continuous improvement to implement in the organization.
  • Contributes to identify and scope projects/workshops and boost generation of continuous improvement ideas that will contribute to MSA growth and profitability.
  • Supports and leads execution of selected projects from organization in terms of content, timing and budget.
  • Effectively communicates project results and needs appropriately to all levels of the organization, both written and verbal.
  • Documents and facilitates training related to continuous improvement and the MSA Business System.


Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Solid communications (both written and verbal).
Solid Planning and organizing skills.
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and influence frontline managers and employees.
Proven ability to handle multiple projects.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high energy environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to drive execution/passion for results.

Demonstrated ability to successsfully lead change initiatives.

Travel up to 50%.

Education Required:

Bachelor/masters degree in engineering, business or relevant.


Masters or MBA

Experience Required:

15 years of relevant experience in industry with an emphasis on Lean experience
Global/regional Lean leadership experience within multiple sites and different regions globally

Lean transformation implementation experience
Experience in operating systems and practical understanding of busines systems.
Lean application experience for both manufacturing and business processes

Experience in coaching / developing others.
Experience in aligning performance for success.
Experience in transactional non-manufacturing CI events an asset.


Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with Lean or other continuous improvement processes / tools.
