POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the President & CEO and with guidance from Director of Public Relations & Communications, the Executive Communications Manager manages the organizations corporate and executive communications initiatives. This role supports the following areas: the CEO Office, Public Affairs, Board of Directors, EDI (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) and Administration.

The Executive Communications Manager is responsible for implementing a common narrative throughout the organization and serves as a passionate ambassador and storyteller. This position also to promotes the work of the organization, as well as the brand and mission of Meet Minneapolis, to key stakeholders.

The Executive Communications Manager maintains a symbiotic relationship with Communications and Marketing team that focuses on promoting the destination.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute proactive outreach and communications strategies to key stakeholders such as Meet Minneapolis Staff, Board of Directors, business associations and elected City officials.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to connect the dots through organizational storytelling with a corporate communications lens.
  • Create and execute communications content, including PowerPoint presentations, for Meet Minneapolis Board of Directors, President & CEO, EDI, Public Affairs and Administration
  • Develop content for organizational communications platforms, such as the annual meeting, board newsletter and executive columns for partner newsletter
  • Establish talking points and write speeches and scripts for Meet Minneapolis President & CEO.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team on the development and execute internal marketing needs such as Meet Minneapolis Legacy Project initiatives, About Us sections of Minneapolis.org, Wellness Committee and HR employee recruitment
  • Develop and project manage initiatives across the organization that convey the value and understanding of the tourism and hospitality industry to identified stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the Director of Public Relations and Communications and Executive Leadership Team in crisis situations; craft responses and assist with execution of approved plan.
  • In partnership with Director of Human Resources, develop internal communications relating to operations, policies and benefits.
  • All other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field of study preferred.
  • 5+ years corporate communications, marketing or related experience
    • Familiarity with the greater Minneapolis metropolitan area;
    • Familiarity with local government/politics
    • Working experience Boards and/or multiple stakeholders
  • Must have valid drivers license

ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Visual Presentation Development and Execution (PowerPoint) Highly knowledgeable, skilled and experienced at using PowerPoint to tell compelling narratives and to communicate information and ideas clearly
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Social Media management
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign or other design programs preferred
  • Working knowledge of web content management system preferred
  • Podcast production and editing experience preferred

Writing & Editing

  • Attention to detail and proofreading
  • Articulate messages using appropriate grammar, usage and vocabulary
  • Produce creative, persuasive, consistent, results-driven, long- and short-format copy for a variety of audiences for use on web and in print
  • Ability to adjust messaging to meet needs of multiple audiences
  • Passionate adherence to organization values of Service, Collaboration, Inclusion, Passion and Integrity.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to:

  • Walk, sit, bend and squat
  • Talk and hear
  • Grab, pull or bend items
  • Lift and/or carry up to 10 lbs.
  • View items at a close and distant range
  • Sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Use computers for extended periods of time

  • Occasional evenings and weekends as needed
