POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supply Chain EHS&S Leader role is responsible for leading the EHS&S organization and leading the company EHS&S program. The Leader will lead the development and maintenance of the safety and regulatory compliance standards, culture, and systems to meet company and regulatory requirements. In addition, this position will take the lead and be responsible for validating compliance and execution on all EHS&S initiatives. The EHS&S leader will Chair the Corporate EHS&S Council sponsored by the CEO. The role will work closely with Regulatory, Legal, Human Resources, Manufacturing, Research & Development, businesses, and other functions to achieve objectives. The role will include developing and implementing standards, processes, training, and resources to enable company goals and that drive efficiencies.

Position Goals:

  • Lead the organization to achieve Recordable injuries rates to best in class i.e. < 0.5
  • Zero annual NOV's
  • Zero PSM events with loss
  • Site security systems
  • Lead the Corporate EHS&S corporate team for continuous improvement across the company
  • Develop non-manufacturing safety programs that prevent injuries

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Globally recruit, train, develop and supervise the Corporate EHS&S resources
  • Ensure appropriate EHS&S training for the rest of the organization
  • Define and track key EHS&S metrics and performance; Maintain a benchmark and trends on performance; Analyze trend and event data to guide and manage to company desired goals
  • Drive a proactive approach and prevention systems for safety (BBS, etc.)
  • Require proper RCA's for appropriate EHS&S situations and communicate learnings; Convene forums to review personnel injuries, at a minimum recordable injury
  • Facilitate and support compliance for all sites and organizations with relevant EHS&S Regulatory laws
  • Develop and obtain approval for EHS&S company policies, maintain the policies, and ensure communication and understanding of all policies
  • Conduct audits and assessments as needed to ensure the integrity of the EHS&S practices and compliance
  • Coordinate significant EHS&S events at the corporate level and ensure communication to relevant stake holders
  • Develop creative EHS&S project execution strategies, obtain funding and approval in conjunction with procurement, legal, and others to deliver cost effective projects globally
  • Coordinate company functional groups on timing and resources for EHS&S project execution
  • Recommend and provide technical direction and input to meet our EHS&S goals and commitments
  • Establish centers of EHS&S knowledge to support Balchem globally
  • Develop the multi-year company EHS&S goals, plans and priorities; Lead the development of the annual EHS&S budget and track execution
  • Integrate with R&D on technology developments and translate into EHS needs to facilitate product or process development goals
  • Drive to standard work processes and train appropriate personnel
  • Support sites on EHS&S design and execution considerations for their small projects
  • Responsible for the outsourcing relationship with key providers (Core, etc.) for services; Provide to the sites and personnel medical support to manage EHS&S events
  • Escalate significant EHS&S issues for leadership understanding and action
  • Maintain strong communication lines with an open-door policy to all sites to ensure employee concerns are heard and taken into account; Communicate any decisions for understanding and clarification
  • Execute an annual EHS&S internal employee survey

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS Technical Degree
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience work experience in the chemical, food or pharma
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a management role leading people
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in EHS&S function or operational role with direct EHS&S responsibility
  • EHS&S or Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred
  • International Experience preferred
  • PSM Expertise preferred
  • Site Management experience preferred
