Essential Job Functions:
  • Maintains MARC Records for electronic resources in WebPAC (the online catalog).
  • Coordinates the selection of electronic books for the district libraries. Maintains and weeds electronic book (ebook) collection.
  • Collects and maintains Open electronic resources (OERs) for the district libraries in the online catalog, EDS, etc.
  • Works within the acquisition module in Sierra.
  • Maintains all electronic resources entries in the EDS catalog (Ebsco Discovery Service).
  • Requests trials of new electronic resources, starts beginning negotiations with vendors and helps solicit contracts for the Central Library Director.
  • Maintains the WAM Table (Library proxy for remote database access for all students, faculty and staff across the District).
  • Liaisons with academic departments to determine electronic resource needs.
  • Serves as permanent member of the Shared Resources Committee, which recommends the acquisition of electronic resources to the directors.
  • Completes yearly collection analysis for District libraries. Reports yearly acquisitions. Creates collection GAP reports for the three libraries (identifies subject gaps in the collection).
  • Reference and instruction duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in electronic library computer technology / systems
  • Ability to learn new computer programs or new technologies.
  • Skills with using a WYSIWYG and with basic HTML.
  • Knowledge of Open Educational Resource, MARC RECORDS, database vendor administration, ebook curation
  • Ability to negotiate, bargain or communicate with library related sales people
  • Ability to research in diverse subject areas
  • Skill in statistical reporting.


Required Education:

  • American Library Association Accredited Master's Degree in library or information science


Required Experience:
  • 1-3 years experience in electronic resource librarianship or similar position


Preferred Experience:
  • Experience using Bootstrap HTML or similar; backend of III Sierra and / or the Acquisitions module of Sierra or other ILS; using the Ebsco Administration module or other discovery service; cataloging and creating electronic serials and records; managed or participated in electronic resource weeding project.


Salary Grade: 25
