The Director of Scientific Communications is responsible for oversight and facilitation of Revance's Medical Affairs data dissemination activities such as Publication Strategy and Plan development, tactical execution of the publication plan and includes medical congress plans and other externally facing communication of Revance's clinical and basic science. This role will lead execution of Revance's medical communication strategy, organize resources, oversee, and manage the development of abstracts, posters, and publications in alignment with scientific platforms across all products. This role will interface with basic scientists, physicians, internal subject matter experts and medical writers to develop fair balanced, objective, scientific information, and education about Revance's products. The Director of Scientific Communications demonstrates expertise and knowledge of products, patient treatment trends, clinical trials, the competitive landscape and scientific activities within the disease area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop the publication strategy and publication plan
  • Direct cross functional publication planning team meetings for the Revance product portfolio
  • Drive development and submission of manuscripts
  • Oversee the creation of abstracts, posters, podium presentations at relevant conferences
  • Ensure internal scientific review and approval of abstracts, posters, presentations, manuscripts, and other externally facing scientific communications
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure all individuals are working to meet planned publication timelines and submission deadlines
  • Keep abreast of the current literature, therapeutic issues and competitive landscape related to the relevant disease areas of focus
  • Develop innovative ways to assist in the dissemination of new data
  • Drive the development and execution of Scientific Receptions at identified congresses
  • Work with Medical Directors to identify appropriate booth materials for congresses
  • Manage external scientific communications vendors
  • Manage Scientific Communications budget
  • Ensure input from all internal stakeholders on core product- and indication-specific scientific communication platforms and drive development, dissemination, and awareness of these platforms across the organization
  • Ensure alignment of scientific communication platforms between the therapeutic and aesthetic neuromodulator franchises
  • Establish strong partnerships with authors and internal cross-functional stakeholders, working closely with R&D, internal subject matter experts, account managers, copywriters, and medical editors
  • Ensure Corporate Communications are informed of upcoming presentations and publications
  • Communicate with Revance's IP attorney to apprise of new data being presented externally

Required Experience:
  • Experience presenting scientific data in conferences and supporting the preparation of such presentations by HCPs
  • Research or pharmaceutical industry experience in the field of aesthetics and/or neurology
  • Proven track record of success, especially in scientific communications strategies, Medical Affairs strategies, and thought leader engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, clearly set goals and effectively manage multiple concurrent work streams successfully
  • Exemplary interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate complex scientific topics to a variety of audiences
  • Solid knowledge of applicable regulatory, legal and compliance standards (FDA, PDMA, PhRMA, GPP3, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, administrative, and computer skills

Preferred Education:
  • MD, DO, PhD or PharmD in relevant scientific field
  • 8+ years' experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry (preferably in Medical Affairs) including: KOL strategy & management, competitive intelligence, and medical congresses

Preferred Additional Skills (i.e., Computer):
  • Strong strategic mindset, understanding of market needs and resource allocation
  • Effective communication skills written, verbal and public speaking
  • Inclusivity oriented, including a well-developed capacity for relationship building
  • Organization, goal setting and execution of project plans across multiple work streams and teams
  • Ability to actively problem solve
  • Travel requirement: Up to 20% including overnight stays
