POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Respiratory Care Operations is responsible for the administrative, expertise and oversight of respiratory care delivery providing staff education, consultation, evidence-based clinical practice, and leadership.
The Director of Respiratory Care Operations ensures the delivery of quality, cost-effective care that meets medical standards of practice and that complies with all regulatory requirements. Through effective collaboration with hospital staff and physicians and the application of quality and PDCA principles, the Director of Respiratory Care Operations, supports quality improvement efforts and standardization across campuses. This position participates in the long-term planning process and supports the organization's strategic direction through effective hospital clinical operation. The Director recommends and implements hospital policy and practices concerning legislation, regulatory requirements, changing business environments and community needs.
Serves as a key communicator for organizational updates, policy changes and education needs. This position establishes and maintains communication with physicians and other professionals to promote mutual understanding of problems and plans of care.
Provides supervision of staff in their daily activities to ensure the delivery of care according to established departmental policies and procedures. This position assists with resolving staff issues, participating in performance reviews, monitoring budgetary practices, preparing staff schedules, developing and implementing performance improvement activities and orienting new employees to the unit.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in business/finance required. Graduate of an accredited school of respiratory care required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of New Jersey. BLS is required.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5-7 years combined clinical and management experience in respiratory care required. Solid understanding of quality and PDCA, organizational vision and values; strong interpersonal, communication and management skills required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, blood-borne pathogens, and potential injury. Must have the ability to distinguish colors.
