Amherst College invites applications for the Director of Recruitment & Onboarding position. The Director of Recruitment & Onboarding is a full-time, exempt, year round position, job group and level SM-4. Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Director of Recruitment & Onboarding is responsible for the leadership, strategic initiatives, management, and compliance aspects of our recruitment and onboarding programs, policies, procedures and practices. The incumbent is responsible for designing and implementing a recruitment and onboarding strategy that emphasizes the candidate and employee experiences, promotes diversity and inclusion, strengthens the recruiting and onboarding model, supports retention, and promotes the College as an employer of choice. The Director of Recruitment & Onboarding is an active participant in the College's efforts to support a diverse workforce and to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Summary of Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strategy Development and Implementation - Design and implement a recruitment and onboarding strategy that emphasizes the candidate and employee experiences, promotes diversity and inclusion, strengthens the recruiting and onboarding model, supports retention, and promotes the College as an employer of choice. Develop and implement a marketing campaign that communicates a compelling message about what differentiates Amherst as an employer, and capitalizes on best practices and new media tools. Collaborate with key stakeholders across campus, particularly search committees, to develop and deliver effective recruitment and onboarding strategies and services.
  • Program Management and Operations - Manage the execution of the full cycle recruitment and onboarding processes. Develop and implement procedures for job evaluation and oversee the creation and maintenance of our job description database. Oversee immigration compliance, serve as a consultant and provide training in a variety subjects, develop the framework and conduct/oversee stay and exit interview and design, evaluate, and recommend recruitment and onboarding changes and enhancements based on the needs of the College and regulatory compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree, 5 -10 years of direct experience with recruitment and onboarding
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal, customer service, time management, and project management skills
  • Experience with HRIS systems, including data input and management
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and familiarity with employment laws and regulations
  • Proven success record implementing and managing recruitment and onboarding programs and experience developing and executing recruiting marketing and branding strategies
  • Prior experience working with and contributing to a diverse workplace
  • PHR or SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification preferred
