About APR:

Academy of the Pacific Rim Charter Public School (APR) is a free, public school offering a rigorous college preparatory program to 545 students in 5th through 12th grade. For 25 years, APR has been committed to serving students of Boston such that they achieve their full intellectual and social potential, and we now have 605 alumni. Our work is grounded in the vision that graduates of APR have a focused mind and a big heart. They are ready for post-secondary education because they have mastered college and career ready academic and social skills, including the knowledge and dispositions to joyfully pursue future opportunities based on their passions and participate in and transform civic life.

Our Students

  • Demographics: 90% are students of color; 11% are English Learners; 25% are supported by an IEP
  • Persistence: To date, our alumni six-year college graduation rate is 70%, which is double the rate of their demographic peers

Instructional Philosophy

Position Description

The Director of Operations (DOO) will report to the Chief Operations Officer (COO). The DOO will design and implement systems that support efficient and effective operations and ultimately serve the quality of daily teaching and learning at APR. They work with the Principals and COO, to execute a vision of operational excellence that supports and is informed by the instructional work we are doing with students and teachers, as well as by our work with families to build community and meaningful learning partnerships.

Detailed Job Responsibilities

  • Manage Operations Team: manages, coaches, and develops school operations team members listed below and holds them accountable to goals and outcomes
    • Operations Coordinator
    • Coverage Coordinator
    • Receptionist
    • Family and Enrollment Coordinator
  • Purchasing Management: Manages the school level purchasing process by establishing clear systems for staff to request items, placing orders with vendors, tracking delivery, and coding and submitting purchases orders, invoices, and reimbursement requests.
  • Scheduling: Works with the leadership team to construct teacher, student, and classroom schedules as well as advisory and class rosters. This includes all assessment schedules and special event schedules.
  • Events: Manages all logistics (e.g. transportation, lodging, meals, staffing plan, etc.) of all off-site field trips and all on-site special events (Report Card Nights, Performances, Graduation, staff celebrations, etc.)
  • Data Systems: Works with the school's Registrar to maintain a complete and accurate student information database system and generates reports (including transcripts) as needed. Runs bi-weekly grade and attendance snapshots.
  • Testing Logistics and Data: Serves as the site coordinator for external assessments such as MCAS, ACCESS, and AP. Works with the CAO to develop and monitor a comprehensive system for Educational Proficiency Plans (EPPs) based on MCAS results.
  • Facilities and Supplies: Coordinates visual messaging projects with the Principal and facilities team. Coordinates grade level supplies; Ensures that common spaces are neat, organized, welcoming and have vision aligned messaging and visual.
  • Health and Safety: Prepares and implements the School's emergency response protocols.
  • Systems and Technology: Works with the IT Director to manage technology initiatives, including student Chromebooks; Communicates logistical updates to students and families where necessary.
