POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Beer & Brewing Operations is responsible for leading the brewing team to produce top quality and consistent beer. The position is responsible for moving brands forward from inception, through development, and into final production. The role collaborates with TRC's executive leadership team on the creation and execution of beer concepts, ideas, and recipes and further elevates the Park Brewing brand through growth and distribution. The Director of Beer & Brewing Operations is an immersive and hands-on role responsible for all aspects of brewing such as ingredient purchasing, planning and execution of brewing functions, leading process improvement efforts, and ensuring safe and sanitary working conditions, as well as long-term capital investments and maintenance plans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Lead new product development with recipe formulation and innovative techniques to create new and exciting flavor experiences.
  • Coordinate with the management team to adhere to all Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) labelling guidelines and product launch periods. Understands and adheres to all FDA, TTB, OSHA standards.
  • Coordinate purchasing and inspection of raw material ingredients; ensure inventory is on hand for brew days and recipe/brewing transaction are recorded in back office system.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in recipes, processes, and quality.
  • Develop beer program throughout entire company including beer menus, special events, and staff education.
  • Author and edit existing SOPs and implement systems to ensure brewers are performing in compliance with processes.
  • Manage and plan brew schedule inclusive of a diverse beer lineup while maintaining adequate supply levels for distribution. Regularly communicate schedule to restaurants, marketing, and sales departments while maintaining adequate production levels.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, educate, lead, schedule and manage brewery operations staff.
  • Lead by example and set a safety-first culture by always wearing PPE, following Safety Protocols.
  • Ensure the facility is regularly cleaned and always in a presentable condition. Maintain brewing areas to ensure compliance with company quality, sanitation, and safety standards.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of ingredients (grain, hops, yeast, water profiles, etc.), their characteristics, and how they perform under various conditions and modern applications through continuing education.
  • Track and analyze performance daily to identify gaps and opportunities to continuously improve the quality, consistency, and cost of our products.
  • Work with management on social media and the proper information being released about the product.
  • Develop relationship with local community and home brewers to leverage their interest.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field required (Science or Engineering preferred) and/or a formal brewing education from an accredited brewing program or professional brewing experience.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in the craft beverage industry (10+ barrel brew house, barrel aging, sour production, pilot brewing, keg/can/bottle packaging, brewery installation a plus).

Computer Skills: Strong computer skills with the ability to work easily in Microsoft Office products, including Excel.
