We are looking for a Director, Enterprise Data Strategy & Analytics to join the Amgen team.

This role will be responsible for day-to-day completion of strategic data projects. Some of these projects are data governance, integration into existing functions and workflows and mentoring senior leaders and staff. The Director will perform a financial and strategic analysis of new data projects they build which will be reconciled against the existing portfolio. This role reports into Digital Health and Innovation but has an enterprise-level technology responsibility to help various partners identify challenges and potential data, analytics and technology solutions to improve the value of Amgen's medicines to patients and to the healthcare system.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute data and analytics projects aligned with Amgen's vision and strategies that use data to drive notable value for patients
  • Be a trusted thought partner and provide mentorship and recommendations on how data can be demonstrated to answer questions and solve problems
  • Drive a Data Culture at Amgen, including hiring and onboarding, initial and ongoing training, harmonized data governance and management, policy generation and enforcement, and monitoring and reporting of relevant performance metrics, etc
  • Execute a harmonized data acquisition process, including frameworks for business case assumptions, prioritizing value with regards to strategy, risks, etc. as well as multi-functional decision-making processes
  • Assist in driving data process change at the senior leadership level; includes assisting with developing training materials and facilitating training sessions
  • Meet regularly with domain specialists to develop a deep understanding of the business and business needs as it pertains to data efficiency and scaling methods
  • Anticipate data needs across the organization and sit with other functional leads to both answer critical strategic questions, problem solve and support all data complexities
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of industry standard methodologies, technologies, architectures and emerging technologies -- along with their potential application to existing or future offerings
  • Develop operational metrics and report to management quarterly on key initiatives and process improvements


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Technology, Strategy and/or Innovation experience

OR

Master's degree and 8 years of Technology, Strategy and/or Innovation experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Technology, Strategy and/or Innovation experience

AND

4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

We seek a candidate who has a passion for and a deep knowledge of healthcare data, platform analytics, data strategy, and product and engineering connection points driving Amgen's portfolio-level view of key technologies in support of its medicines. The candidate would also have previous experience to support and fulfill the strategic objectives of a highly multi-functional organization.
  • Strong capabilities in project management and problem solving, with a deep understanding of the technology and biopharma sectors
  • Broad familiarity across functions, including regulatory, marketing, discovery and development
  • Knowledge of analytics approaches in biopharma including descriptive and predictive analytics as well as primary research approaches in competitive intelligence, quantitative and qualitative market research
  • Thinks strategically about issues impacting an entire portfolio of therapeutics across geographies and various stages of development
  • Views issues from multiple perspectives, is willing to compromise to achieve objectives, and is adept at resolving conflicts
  • Ability to translate complex data insights into meaningful business recommendations
  • Oral, written and presentation skills to explain complex concepts and controversial findings clearly to a variety of audiences, including senior management
  • Experience managing multiple senior partners, prioritizing across a multitude of responsibilities and allocating resources to drive impact
  • Self-starter with a desire to grow personally and professionally
