Responsible for leading career discovery, exploration, and foundational readiness-focused services for Loyola students with a particular focus on undergraduate students; administer the Career Center in absence of senior leader and assist in administration of the Career Center on a daily basis. Provide training and supervision to the professional staff regarding the career readiness process. Maintain and develop contact with faculty, college administrators, alumni, and external professionals for the purpose of implementing the goals of the Career Center. Serve as a member of the leadership team and help make decisions which effect the operations of the Career Center.

Essential functions include:
  • Provide overall leadership and developmental support for professional, paraprofessional student staff, and graduate assistant specializing in exploratory and foundational readiness phases of career development.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the career facilitation and counseling skills of the Career Center staff
  • Assist the Assistant Vice President in decision making, report writing, assessment, budget administration, and coordination of office activities and events.
  • Assist the Career Center with assessment, learning outcomes, and writing reports.
  • Lead and guide the facilitation of self-discovery and exploratory opportunities involving students and alumni in the Loyola community through various means, including Career Treks, the Career Accelerator program, exploration-focused workshops, foundational career readiness skill development (resumes, cover letters, networking, etc.) and technology platforms managed by the Career Center.
  • Serve as a committee member in professional groups and on campus.
  • Participate in professional associations and development activities to remain informed regarding new developments in the field.
  • Supervise and conduct individual career advising sessions with undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni.
  • Provide leadership for the development and implementation of career discovery and exploration workshops. Train and coach staff regarding their presentation skills.
  • Conduct presentations and information sessions for academic classes, prospective students, current students, parents, etc.
  • Provide appropriate follow through to promote quality customer service.

Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, or related field.

5-8 years relevant work experience.

Training in career counseling. Prior experience with career assessment and development.

Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new systems.

Excellent written, interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills.

Demonstrated creativity, resourcefulness, initiative, attention to detail, and superior time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once.

Ability to relate and interact with students, employers, faculty, administrators, and other professionals.

Ability to manage people, coordinate activities, and stay up-to-date with knowledge about current information related to career development.

Multicultural competency and demonstrated ability in fostering an inclusive climate for students, employers, and all campus colleagues.

Flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours is required based on the academic calendar, department event schedule, and needs of the University.
