As a Digital Tech Writer at MSA Safety, you will work with the Technical Documentation Team to spearhead the digital transformation of MSAs user instruction content and processes in alignment with our market leading safety innovation strategy. Working with engineering, marketing, other internal stakeholders, and third party service providers, the Digital Tech Writer will be responsible for the quality and timeliness of the user instruction deliverable on all New Product Development (NPD) projects.



Responsibilities

  • Deliver New Product Development user instructions on time and within quality guidelines
  • Work with internal stakeholders like legal, engineering, compliance, and marketing to create and adapt quality guidelines based on business needs
  • Provide New Product Development engineering teams with hands-on writing support from initial outline, and rough procedures, to final documentation.
  • Create and manage online help publication process that provides speed and agility to revision process while satisfying legal and agency revision control compliance.
  • Gather, analyze, and acquire subject knowledge of products by collaborating with subject matter experts to acquire product samples and product knowledge to ensure through understanding of product usage
  • Coordinate the user instruction review process with internal stakeholders as necessary, including legal, engineering, standards and compliance, and marketing
  • Create and manage MadCap Flare and MadCap Central style guides and procedures that ensures information architecture is consistently applied to new and revised user instructions
  • Identifies needs for visual technical aids such as line art or photographs and coordinates the completion of that work with both internal and external agencies.
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions
  • Work with third party service providers as necessary to complete new or update existing technical literature
  • Complete internal change request processes for technical documentation in change management systems, including SAP
  • Owns and drives all Content Management System relevant process steps to support the creation of the multilingual language set
  • Support the terminology-database in with the defined processes and the appropriate specialty departments in terms of: Creation, verification, maintenance, archiving allocating of technical and promotional terms for MSA Language



Qualifications

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Proficiency in the following applications:
    • MadCap Central
    • MadCap Flare
    • Sharepoint
  • Ability to Identify opportunities for improvement (within team's span of control)
  • Ability to multitask and juggle multiple timelines/priorities
  • Proactive and strong communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment, supporting others and asking for support, as needed
  • Ability to connect and network cross-functionally to understand key stakeholders by project

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Information Systems, Software Development or related field
  • 3 years or more creating end user documentation

Education & Experience Preferred:

  • 5 years or more creating end user documentation
  • SCRUM Master Certification
