Salary: Tiers VI-VIII (Hourly rate of $31.52 - $37.07)

The NYCLU seeks well-qualified candidates for the part-time position of Development Officer, Events, who would be dedicated to our mission and values. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Officer role will undertake a range of tasks and responsibilities that facilitate and coordinate event fundraising, as well as manage the Artist Ambassador program and other arts related strategies.


Sing Out for Freedom:

  • Act as overall owner of the ACLU/NYCLU annual fall benefit concert, Sing Out for Freedom, under the management of the Director of Development.
  • Coordinate the Production team with internal communications, record keeping, task management, coordination with rest of Project team
  • Manage all aspects of the project related to logistics, program, marketing, ticketing, seating and benefits.
  • Assist Director of Development and Leadership Gifts team on corporate and individual fundraising strategy and implementation.
  • Develop strategy for and manage the @SingOutNYCLU Instagram account to market the concert and the NYCLU's connection to the arts community
  • Oversee creation of media assets such as photos, clips and highlight videos for year-round use.

Artist Ambassadors:

  • Act as overall owner of the project, leading on strategy and implementation, under the direction of the Director of Development
  • Coordinate work of the volunteer co-chairs
  • Facilitate communication between the co-chairs and the Sing Out Production Team related to Ambassador involvement in the concert
  • Develop programming to engage and activate Ambassadors, working together with NYCLU Program Team
  • Drafting and sending communications to Ambassadors; fielding requests and comments from Ambassadors

Other Responsibilities:

  • Setting goals and objectives, monitoring & evaluation for Sing Out and Ambassadors programs
  • Assist with LGBT Rights Reception as needed, including engaging Ambassadors as participants.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of other strategies that involve collaboration between artists and NYCLU staff in service of the NYCLU's mission.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.


  • Minimum one year of experience in events planning; performance and/or fundraising events preferred
  • Experience working with VIPs such as performing artists who require extra discretion and attention
  • Studies or practice in the arts a plus
  • Results-oriented with demonstrated ability to track progress and meet goals, and action-oriented with a bias towards getting things done
  • Detail-oriented and organized; ability to manage, prioritize and complete multiple tasks and projects on-time, under tight deadlines; ability to handle stress and pressure effectively
  • Committed to developing and maintaining effective relationships with others, including commitment to values and principles of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Sound judgement in maintaining donor confidentiality
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Experience with design and or website software such as Adobe Suite, Canva, Figma, Squarespace a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as research skills
  • Understanding of social justice and commitment to supporting efforts to uphold it.
  • Willing to work occasional overtime or irregular hours
