Position Summary

The Virtual Event and Media Experience Designer is part of the Learning Experience Design Team, whose main purpose is to help faculty, staff and students succeed through the exploration and use of web-conferencing and media systems. The Virtual Event and Media Experience Designer provides guidance for virtual events using web-conferencing technology, as well as, media management through the Universitys media platform. The Virtual Event and Media Experience Designer collaborates with educators at the university, program, and course level to help ensure that media resources are effectively integrated into to the curriculum to maximize the learner experience. This position also contributes to the formation of policy, process, and procedure for the management of RFUMS digital media assets through effective collaboration with all stakeholders.

The Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs (AFA) at Rosalind Franklin University develops and implements quality initiatives and systematic practices that support academic programs. We sponsor activities for the University community, collaborate with university stakeholders, promote educational excellence, and support teaching and learning by developing an innovative and engaging student-centered learning experience. AFA shares responsibility for effective academic governance of the university with the University faculty, the deans, the Provost, and the President.

The Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs is composed of multiple teams who provide collaborative support for a number of administrative functions including faculty appointments, manage academic processes, manage the program approval and revision process for all credit-bearing units, the development and success of faculty, and facilitates the effective utilization of data information to advance the mission of Rosalind Franklin University. The Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs is a partner and resource to faculty and staff across the university.

Offices within AFA include Academic Affairs, Academic Policy, Scheduling Resources and Projects, Online Learning and Instructional Design (OLID), Faculty Affairs, Faculty Development, and Institutional Research.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with key university stakeholders to ensure media asset preservation and curation are being addressed through policy, process, and procedure.
  • Collaborate with creators of media to help ensure the highest possible quality media asset.
  • Schedule and manage video-related projects and requests using successful project management methodologies and existing support structures of the university.
  • Consult with faculty and staff to help manage all pre-production, recording, and post-production work for web conferencing and video projects.
  • Manage University-based media archives, ensuring safeguards are in place for effective digital asset backup and retrieval.
  • Continually explore new ways of improving instructional video through process, procedure, and production techniques.
  • Implement and maintain a strategy for continual quality improvement of process and procedure for the creation and curation of video assets.
  • Provide web-conference and media guidance for University events and special projects as needed.
  • Proactively educate faculty, staff and students about video production and media design techniques within education.
  • Partner with academic and support units to support large and high-profile events.
  • Work with media creators to ensure that all media assets are ADA compliant.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or a related area.
  • Experience working in a professional environment, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Video production experience.
  • Demonstrated ability of integrating media into course content through learning management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately, managing workflow and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Experience planning, scheduling, and providing technical moderation of Zoom sessions and webinars.
  • Experience working with learning management systems within the higher education environment.
  • Experience with providing support and training for faculty.
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check.
  • Must provide proof of COVID19 vaccination or a university approved exemption.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Must have a demonstrated broad knowledge of instructional technology tools and their use in teaching and learning as well as audio-visual equipment for supporting events.
  • Outstanding communication and consultative skills and must be able to apply these skills with faculty and staff at all educational levels.
  • Possess the ability to conceptualize design problems and develop creative and innovative solutions through the use of media.
  • Must be able to work both independently and be a team player.
  • Possess the ability to effectively work with talent and project stakeholders in a collegial manner to achieve optimal results.
  • Must be detail-oriented, have excellent time management and organizational skills, and be able to effectively lead and execute projects and initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Media, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design or similar field.

  • Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Work is performed in various locations on and off campus with extensive use of computers and specialized electronic equipment for educational purposes. Some travel may be required.
