The Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Philadelphia is seeking a Data Analyst in our Center City Philadelphia Headquarters. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Reporting & Analytics, you will partner with Investment and Finance team stakeholders to define data and reporting requirements and design and create business intelligence dashboards to support business operation and the strategic goals of the Board of Pensions. The Data Analyst presents data analysis and insights and educates others in the organization in how to effectively engage in a data warehouse and data visualization environment.

What you will do:

  • Gather and document data requirements from the investment and financial accounting departments and build out additional dashboards and reports to streamline work, improve data governance and provide additional insight and analytics.
  • Design, create, and maintain dashboards, converting requirements into sample wireframes and dashboards, and presenting analysts to stakeholders to gain alignment and approval.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Architects to maintain, test, and validate the data pipeline for accuracy and consistency, documents the data warehouse semantic layer, and create and maintain data dictionaries to reduce risk and streamline work.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc reporting and analysis and provide management with data analysis and insights to improve strategic decision making.
  • Contribute to the Data, Reporting and Analytics Center of Excellence by proving training, process documentation, and governance to maintain data warehouse and Power BI with stakeholders.

What you need to succeed in the role:

  • 10 years of data analytical experience preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree required; master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics or Analytics preferred.
  • The ability to work as an effective team member.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent data visualization skills, Power BI preferred
  • Intermediate SQL to access data needed for reports, interfaces, and charts.
  • Understanding of basic statistics and mathematic models.
  • Exceptional data acumen and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of Wireframe design and PowerPoint
  • Advanced understanding of data and system validation methods.
  • Advanced technical writing skills with an ability to document current state vs. to be state documentation in order to streamline redundant work from a data perspective.
  • Experience with testing changes to data sets or equivalent experience implementing a new system, program, or custom development testing of data impacts.
  • An ability to work on-site Tuesday Thursday at the 2000 Market Street office in Philadelphia.
  • An ability to stay current and maintain a level of professional expertise in financial analysis best practices via seminars, literature, and formal training.
