Description

The purpose of your role as a Cost Accounting Supervisor: As a cost accounting supervisor supporting the Service and Building Automation business, you will be responsible for complete and timely job / work order costs and inventory to support the financial statements, providing mentorship and support for cost accounting team members, and assisting with complex questions/needs.
  • Provide supervision and training to ensure accurate setup, maintenance, and inactivation of jobs/work orders, budgets, contracts, etc. Ensure contract, change orders, exemption certificates and OCIP/CCIP insurance documents exist and are saved in the master folders. Review contracts to ensure correct tax status and proper wording is included in the contract.
  • Review overall job / work order cost data, performing analysis to ensure that material, labor, equipment or other expenses, margin, and other project-related data is accurately stated. Perform analysis on cost changes and impact on margin. Identify areas to focus attention.
  • Perform complex reconciliations and research reconciling differences and errors in a timely manner, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded, resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist Project Managers and accounting team with timely work order/ job setup and job updates for month end close and PM reviews, etc. Prepare required reports and graphs. Monitor unallocated labor on jobs and work with PM's to correct.
  • Perform daily / monthly accounting duties including trouble shooting of differences and errors through data mining, detail analysis and research. Perform month end close out duties. Audit the Service Management Module, comparing to the GL, and reconciling any differences. Prepare service management and job cost entries to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded and in compliance with GAAP to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Perform daily and weekly audits of jobs, verify the outside committed costs have been properly accounted for. Confirm that all work orders have been processed.
What we're looking for in you
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with:
    • general ledger
    • accounts payable
    • cost accounting
    • payroll
    • inventory in a service or construction environment
  • 5+ years of experience with accounting and financial reporting systems (COINS, UltiPro, Adaptive Insights is preferred)
  • Fundamental knowledge of US GAAP and Accounting practices
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel (VLOOKUP's and pivot tables), Word and other Microsoft Office 365 tools
  • Public Accounting experience preferred
  • Understanding of construction operations preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in accounting, or equivalent years of experience
