Coordinator, Neurodiversity Support Services - Central Campus

Primary Function: The Coordinator of Neurodiversity Support is responsible for coordinating and directing a comprehensive set of support services for students identified as neurodiverse including supervising part time interns; working directly with students to create individual social and academic goals that can be tracked and managed; working with parents; providing educational opportunities and awareness events for the college community; and assisting students with the admission and registration process.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serves as the main point of contact for the neurodiversity support services program and is responsible for the facilitation, implementation, and assessment of the program.
  • Provides direct support to students identified as neurodiverse to provide individualized strategies designed and implemented to teach students executive functioning skills.
  • Coordinates strategies and identifies solutions to challenges and barriers encountered by students participating in the neurodiversity program.
  • Provides personalized success coaching for students receiving services to help foster academic success, self-determination, and help students persist to graduation.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to connect students with services.
  • Provide educational planning and course recommendations, based on the learning strengths, abilities and interests of each student.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Work with the Director of Accessibility Support to implement and evaluate the programs and services of the campus.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and individuals to serve as interns to serve students receiving neurodiversity services.
  • Ensure that confidentiality and privacy is maintained with respect to all communications and records considered confidential unless exempted by law as well as conform to the highest ethical level of state/international licensing board requirements.
  • Assist, as needed, with retention interventions that address the characteristics and needs of a diverse population.
  • Provide academic advising and registration assistance, as needed.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Facilitate timely, professional communication and problem resolution strategiesHave good working knowledge of the
  • American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its impact on community colleges
  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and evidence-based practices.
  • Ability to work with clients with disabilities.
  • Ability to be patient, flexible, versatile and cope with stressful situations.
  • In depth knowledge of the principles and practice of Applied Behavior Analysis. This includes general behavioral assessment and Ethical Standards in Behavior Analysis.
  • In depth knowledge of the behavioral impact of developmental disabilities, as well as the cognitive, educational, vocational and social challenges encountered by persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Must be knowledgeable about and be responsive to FERPA law and regulations
  • Maintain processes and systems that improve the quality of customer support services
  • Coordinate, plan, and implement targeted events and activities on campus
  • Must use reasonable and informed practices to limit the liability exposure of the institution, its officers, employees, and agents
  • Maintain counseling and advising records as required by federal and state professional counseling regulations
  • Must possess outstanding customer service skills and have the ability to work with multiple projects and within deadlines.
  • Must be available for occasional nights and weekends activities

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Psychology or closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university required.

Preferred Education:

  • Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education,
  • Psychology or a closely related field from a regionally accredited
    college/university and two years of direct work-related experience.
  • In depth knowledge of the principles and practice of Applied Behavior Analysis. This includes general behavioral assessment and Ethical
  • Standards in Behavior Analysis.

Required Experience:

  • 2 or more years working in a community based or higher education setting providing direct support to individuals identified as neurodiverse.
  • In depth knowledge of the principles and practice of Applied Behavior Analysis. This includes general behavioral assessment and Ethical Standards in Behavior Analysis.

Preferred Experience:

  • Two plus years of experience as a behavior specialist or behavior analyst with advanced skills in behavior management, systematic instruction for individuals identified as neurodiverse.
  • Experience in specialized programming for adults with ASD and other significant communication or behavioral challenges; especially in an inclusive community environment.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications:

  • Active BCBA credential
