Position Summary:

The Coordinator of Contact Tracing will assist the Division of Student Affairs and Inclusion and Student Health Services in monitoring health and safety protocols related to COVID-19 within our student community. The position will provide a daily report of new and active concerns and participate in an on-call schedule to review urgent reports of illness and exposure. The position facilitates the student COVID-19 illness and exposure reporting process, our student travel registry (as it relates to COVID clearance), monitoring testing results, and the overall level of community spread within our University student community. The position will work cooperatively with the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs to alert the Vice President for Student Success and Inclusion regarding trends and when concerning levels of community spread are identified within a specific population on campus. This position will require prioritization, prompt action, and attention to detail in documentation and data management. The position will report directly to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs within the Division of Student Affairs and Inclusion.

The position is approximately 30 hours per week and is eligible for full-time staff benefits. Duties could be performed remotely, provided the selected candidate is able to travel to campus for training, meetings, etc. as needed.

RFU is a national leader in interprofessional research and practices and is nationally recognized for its research in areas including neuroscience, brain-related diseases, inherited disorders, proteomics, cancer cell biology and immunology, cardiac resuscitation, and gait and balance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and respond to new reports of illness and exposure within the RFU COVID-19 Illness and Exposure Reporting form.
  • Evaluate new reports, obtain additional information where needed to assess risk, and utilize approved protocols for responding to reports
  • Coordinate referrals for testing, healthcare, and other supportive services as needed.
  • Maintain approved communication templates for responding to new inquiries and communicating close contact notifications.
  • Conduct a full-contact trace to determine other members of the RFU community that may be affected by new cases, as needed.
  • Communicate with students who have been exposed through email and phone calls and other communication as necessary.
  • Obtain and review medical documentation submitted by students related to illness and exposure.
  • Follow up with students who are in quarantine or isolation in order to clear to return to normal activities.
  • Communicate excused absences or course modifications needed for students who have submitted an Illness or Exposure Reporting form.
  • Communicate with the RFU Health Clinics and the Lake County Health Department as required by protocol.
  • Monitor new Student Travel Registry reports for COVID impact and communicate any restrictions and protocol to student based on the travel destination and immunization history.
  • Assist with educational clearance review and notifications and compliance with the University COVID-19 vaccination and testing protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with other offices such as Academic Programs, Campus Safety, Student Housing, Student Life as needed.

Required Education and Experience:
  • An RN, or a Bachelors degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience within the health care, higher education, or related field.
  • Must achieve a satisfactory result from a background check.
  • Must have proof of COVID19 vaccination or a university-approved exemption

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, the ability to use sound judgment in response to issues and concerns.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with health education, community outreach, linkage to care, social services, or other public health services
  • Experience using Google Suite products including Google Drive, Sheets, Documents, Forms, and Add-Ons.

Typical Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in a typical office environment and will be conducted in a climate-controlled office with extensive use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
  • Work is of a light physical demand with duties being performed while sitting, standing, or occasionally stooping.
  • Selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
