Coordinator, Career Services - North Campus

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assists students, alumni, and community members with all aspects of their career exploration, development, and job search needs.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and direct the effective operation of the Career Services department to deliver services to students to achieve the agreed key performance measures. Prepares and manages department budgets, payroll, office schedules, monthly and annual reports.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with area businesses and employers who may provide career development and employment opportunities for students. Informs, educates, and consults with employers on the nature of services provided and student candidates available.
  • Provides job search assistance to students, alumni, and community members by conducting resume critiques and mock interviews, and assisting with the development of a job search plan.
  • Coordinates activities and events that inform students of career paths, employment trends, and other job search related topics.
  • Represents the College, as required, by participating in state and local councils, committees, boards, organizations, and state and national conferences.
  • Promotes a greater awareness within the institution of the world of work and career development over the lifespan.
  • Works with student development leadership team to determine unit needs and implement services.
  • Collaborates with counterparts to ensure consistent and uniform application of all functions, processes, and services across the College.

Additional Job Functions:
  • Maintains communication with technical program advisory committees to remain current with business and industry needs.
  • Participates in institutional student development and retention programs.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff to support career-related programming and events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to exercise professional judgment and decision making in all interactions with students, employers, college faculty, staff, administrators, and community members.
  • Must be able to manage numerous tasks simultaneously and to develop and complete new projects and programs with little supervision.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse population of students, alumni, and community members.
  • Must possess the ability to interact effectively with college personnel and local industry, and to establish a strong community and industry network.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish personal and professional credibility with both internal and external constituents.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively train and develop staff.
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in career and employment services and the ability to create and implement progressive initiatives.
  • Must be able to behave in a considerate manner with others regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, disability, or beliefs.
  • Must be team-oriented with the ability to work well with other staff members in the development and administration of programs within Student Development and throughout the college.
  • Must embrace a philosophy of servant leadership and foster a positive working environment.
  • Ability to generate and identify opportunities to improve present programs and/or operations.
  • Comprehend complex information and explain it to prospective and current students.
  • Knowledge of career and job search trends.
  • Proven track record of effectively interacting with a diverse constituency group.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written language skills, presentation, and public relations skills.
  • Detail oriented, a self-starter, and a customer friendly professional with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Team-player attitude, diplomacy, and flexibility to work outside of regular business hours as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Coursework experience and/or training in counseling, labor relations, and/or personnel administration.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in career services, job development, human resources administration or a related field.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in counseling, labor relations, and/or human resources
  • Banner software experience

Salary Grade: 23
