The San Francisco Conservatory of Music seeks a highly organized and engaged Concert Operations Manager to oversee logistics required to ensure successful live and online performances that take place in SFCM's concert and recital halls. Reporting to the Director of Concert Operations and overseeing a team of student Box Office/Reception Assistants, the incumbent will curate and create all student recital programs and oversee box office operations. S/He/They will assist the Director of Production and Concert Operations with staffing events and manage all Box Office and merchandise sales. The Concert Operations Manager will also serve as one of our EMS gurus, making it easier for SFCM to manage and track the use of practice rooms and event spaces on campus. This position will require some irregular hours including weeknights and weekends.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage daily and weekly room scheduling for the 600+ SFCM Community Members
  • Assist the Director of Concert Operations with concert, recital, reception, and rental scheduling
  • Assist with managing production logistics related to concerts, rentals, and other special events
  • Employ, train, and deploy up to 30 student workers to support front-of-house and box office operations for performances
  • Facilitate the implementation of EMS scheduling system and creation of protocols/guidelines for use, in conjunction with the Director of Production Services and Manager of Large Ensembles and members of the executive staff
  • Partner and liaise with MarCom and Associate Dean of Artistic Operations to organize the season brochure and announcement
  • Serve as primary liaison with 3rd party ticket sales affiliate
  • Serve as the first point of contact for concertgoers and other members of the public
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects at any one time
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements in collaboration with the Director of Concert Operations
  • Experience with scheduling and/or CRM systems is a plus
  • Ability to train student workers to deliver outstanding customer service to the general public and to members of the SFCM community
  • Background in the performing arts required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
