This is a 100% remote position, but is expected to attend quarterly in-person leadership meetings. This position must work M-F 8AM - 5PM Pacific Time, regardless of location.


Job Summary:

This is an exempt-level leadership role serving as the organization's primary contact for program-related compliance reporting, quality assurance, and federal contractor analysis and compliance. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position is responsible for ensuring the organization's grant and contract reports are submitted timely, including coordinating with the Finance Department to track required financial reporting for federal grant and contract compliance, and ensuring administrative grant files remain audit ready throughout the year.

This position oversees the Quality Assurance function, ensuring client files remain compliant, and acts as a neutral interpreter of operations compliance as it relates to program file audit preparation. The Compliance Director also oversees the timely reporting of internal data through the Housing Management Information System (HMIS.)

Job Duties:

1. Oversees the organization's Quality Assurance program, providing monthly reports to the Leadership team, as well as suggested timelines for program revisions, as necessary.

2. Develops and maintains compliance-tracking mechanisms for government grants and contracts, ensuring that appropriate reports are submitted timely, and that required administrative files are maintained as audit-ready throughout the grant lifecycle.

3. In coordination with the Administrative Manager and Chief Administrative Officer, the Compliance Director ensures all required forms and templates are prepared in accordance with state and federal regulations prior to submission for grant and contract opportunities throughout the United States.

4. As a member of the compliance team, and after consultation with appropriate leadership team members, prepares government grant and contract form submissions on behalf of the organization. Ensures that all contract and grant proposals meet the Nation's Finest compliance standards and are aligned with established Nation's Finest community impact goals and strategies.

5. Research regulatory requirements and assist in developing and updating internal policies and procedures to ensure ongoing organizational compliance.

6. Responsible for maintaining the Risk Management matrix, with input and guidance from the Chief Administrative Officer.

7. Participates in the ongoing preparation and tracking to maintain CARF compliance.

8. Oversees the HMIS data entry function, ensuring that required HMIS contracts are maintained and updated, and ensuring that required HMIS reports are submitted as required by funders and government actors.

9. Acts as the primary contact for questions related to HIPAA, and for subpoenas and court orders related to client information at operational locations.

10. In coordination with the Administrative Manager, ensures that all government grant/contract administrative files are maintained in an audit-ready format at all times, and remain accessible through the cloud-based SharePoint platform.

11. Ensures government and community partners receive all required insurance certificates annually; maintains internal log of insurance certificates for all named partners.

12. Other duties as assigned by the Chief Administrative Officer.

Required Competencies:

1. Ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines while handling competing priorities.

2. Demonstrated ability to research, prepare, and analyze complex federal, state, and County/City contracts (fee-for-service) and large federal and state grants.

3. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of leaders throughout the organization.

4. Effective in managing project deadlines and providing effective follow-up for delegated tasks.

5. Ability to identify and mitigate areas of risk within the organization.

6. Ability to analyze complex data sets and provide professional, polished reports as requested.

7. Ability to understand complex external government regulations impacting federal contractors, and a demonstrated ability to understand the impact of regulatory changes.

8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.


A bachelor's degree in a related field is highly desirable. Professional experience in an exempt-level compliance role preferred.

Minimum three years' exempt-level experience managing government grants and contracts >$15M annually. Minimum three years' exempt-level experience managing federal contractor compliance required, nonprofit experience preferred.

Experience acting as a HIPAA officer and managing client subpoenas and administrative requests is desirable.


Full-time, exempt position. Comprehensive benefits.

$85,000 - $95,000 to start, depending on experience and qualifications.

This position is eligible for 100% remote work within the continental United States, with up to 10% required travel for onsite meetings, conferences, or training seminars. A one-time $750.00 stipend is available for home office setup.

Reasonable cell phone and internet reimbursements will be provided.

This position works M-F 8AM 5PM Pacific (Pacific time is required regardless of the location of the candidate.)
