Position Purpose

The Communications Manager supports the Dean of Libraries and members of the Library Leadership Team to identify communications goals and strategically develop and maintain a unifying communications program. The Communications Manager develops, implements, and maintains the communications program designed to maximize the visibility and impact of library activities and achievements in support of the institutional mission. They provide leadership to a wide range of institutional and external communications activities across print and digital channels, including social media.

This is a two-year term position.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

• Create compelling narratives to highlight the Library's contributions to the mission of Dartmouth, and develop associated communications materials in electronic, print, audiovisual and other formats. 30%
• Identify and prioritize communications and outreach strategies, timeline for implementation, and most appropriate delivery method(s), including the use of emerging media channels. 20%
• Coordinate and manage the Library's presence and messaging, ensuring cohesive branding, style and voice across all content and channels. Advise library staff on the production of publicity materials for events and exhibits. Proof all publications and approve them for printing or web publication. 20%
• In conjunction with senior library staff, contribute to the Library's fundraising, development and stewardship efforts through writing and editorial support in liaison with the Advancement Division. 10%
• Prepare and edit key communications for the Dean of Libraries and others as required. 10%
• In conjunction with senior library staff, build strong relationships with Dartmouth partners, including working as the Library's media relations contact with the Office of Communications and external news organizations on key messaging and public relations efforts. 10%
