What you will do

For nearly four decades, Amgen has been at the forefront of providing the oncology and hematology communities with novel therapies that have changed patients' lives. Our portfolio, as a whole, ranks above industry average in terms of the number of first-in-class medicines we have brought to market, with two-thirds of our medicines gaining this distinction versus the industry average of one-third. We have pioneered five first-in-class oncology and hematology medicines including, Neupogen, Nplate, XGEVA, BLINCYTO and IMLYGIC.

The Commercial Insights Senior Manager will lead activities capturing the voice of the customer where ever the customer may be, using various traditional and emerging methodologies: primary market research (qualitative and quantitative), social dialogue monitoring, and deep understanding of various touchpoints where customers engage (e.g., CRM, search). The role is comfortable crafting stories enabling deep insights for Brand teams.

This position covers US Oncology brands and reports to the Director for Commercial Insights.
  • Demonstrates deep scientific or biopharma understanding to appropriately define relevant business problems and address through data and analytics approaches/projects
  • Identifies key business questions that need to be addressed to meet changing business needs
  • Plan, design and conduct key strategic and highly complex market research programs and translate the findings into strategic and tactical recommendations that help drive Oncology Business Unit (OBU) brands' success
  • Synthesize and integrate various data, research and analyses into meaningful insights while ensuring that analyses and summaries of results are shared in the form of compelling stories that deepen customer understanding
  • Develop and nurture productive relationships with the OBU cross-functional marketing team to appropriately define the business problems/business questions
  • Turn unstructured business issues/requests into appropriate action plans and projects that result in high quality, meaningful and impactful deliverables
  • Influences leadership to incorporate key findings, insights and intelligence into program strategy
  • Prioritize research resources to impact critical business issues and decisions
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with best-in-class insights vendors
  • Ensure that both routine and ad-hoc projects are in compliance with all Amgen SOPs and meet service-level expectations for quality, timeliness, and budget

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree & 2 years of market research, analytics, or other directly related experience OR
  • Master's degree & 4 years of market research, analytics, or other directly related experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree & 6 years of market research, analytics, or other directly related experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated exceptional strategic / critical thinking abilities and business acumen
  • Good understanding of biopharmaceutical marketing and direct to HCP strategies and tactics
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the full spectrum of survey research execution including methodology selection, instrument development, sampling and statistical analyses (e.g. segmentation, discrete choice, etc.)
  • Good understanding of all consumers: payers, patients, and HCPs
  • Strong understanding that physicians are, at their core, people first
  • Demonstrated ability to dig deep and the uncover the "why" beneath observed HCP behaviors (go beyond the rational)
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously
  • Proficient facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Familiarity with search analytic and CRM metrics
  • Oncology therapeutic area / disease knowledge and experience is a plus
