JOB SUMMARY: This will be a blended role to include both commercial and residential underwriting. The Commercial Credit Analyst assists management in making informed credit decisions regarding existing and potential commercial borrowers. Completes loan presentations to be reviewed by Management in making commercial loan decisions by reviewing and analyzing personal and business financial statements and tax returns, credit reports, appraisals, and environmental reports. Commercial analysis includes, but is not limited to, spreading of a company's financial statements, calculating debt service ratios for real estate properties and businesses, and calculating global debt service ratios for a full loan relationship. Analysis of a loan request is culminated by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the transaction under consideration and recommendation of a risk rating as defined by the Bank's Credit Policy. Access to executive management and involvement with Credit Committee.

The Residential Underwriter is responsible for underwriting residential mortgage loans for the secondary market (FHLMC/FNMA) and bank portfolio mortgage products. The Underwriter is responsible for reviewing mortgage credit files from post-origination through closing to ensure that it is saleable and complies with all Freddie Mac guidelines for purchase along with complying with all mortgage related regulations and bank lending policy. Additionally, the Underwriter may review and underwrite retail loans such as home equity lines of credit, residential second mortgages, and additional retail loan products.

Commercial Credit Analyst

  • Spread financial statements and conduct thorough analysis of applications for commercial credit requests and for internal loan review.
  • Calculate debt service coverage analyses and assessments of collateral.
  • Investigate credit records and related financial information.
  • Review real estate appraisals and environmental reports.
  • Prepare loan presentations and make recommendations based on financial findings.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to details, follow up and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of the Bank's Credit Policy as it relates to commercial and residential lending.

Residential Underwriter

  • Underwrite residential, home equity loans, and consumer loans
  • Guide loan officers/operations staff regarding credit direction on various loan scenarios and documentation requirements.
  • Review title and other various documentation that secures the bank's collateral
  • Review income and asset documentation
  • Effectively communicate Conditions with Originators, Processors and Closers as needed
  • Stay informed on current Agency and Government loan guidelines and recent regulatory changes


  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial statements and general accounting.
  • Strong computer proficiency Windows and Microsoft Word/Excel
  • Detail oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Exceptional analytical ability and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.


  • College Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field and/ or equivalent background and experience.
  • Some banking experience in either residential or commercial underwriting or loan originations is preferred.
