Amyris is seeking a Business Development Analyst to support growth in our core business. The ideal candidate will have experience in communicating efficiently between technical and commercial functions and a solid understanding of the biotechnology industry. This position will assume primary responsibility for supporting the Associate Director of Flavor, Fragrance and Cosmetic Ingredients in exploring and expanding industrial partnerships and collaborations. He or she will work closely with potential customers, business development teams, technical experts, legal, finance, and regulatory to expand the ingredient pipeline and identify new potential collaborations. The goal is to build business cases for 1) new ingredient targets within the Flavor, Fragrance and Cosmetic Ingredient markets, 2) cross-sell ingredients of other Amyris Divisions, and 3) identify for partnerships and collaborations to exploit new business opportunities. This team player will require a solid understanding of Amyris' capabilities and ingredient markets along with excellent market research and analytical skills. This role provides a unique opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the business across functions.

The Business Development Analyst will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data to evaluate existing and potential business opportunities for commercialization of Amyris technology. This person will also track targeted ingredient/markets, identify and monitor competitors, and research market trends. This position will work closely with other division business development teams, supply chain, manufacturing, R&D, regulatory and our partners to prepare for meetings, organize travel, and ensure successful delivery of various commitments.

Responsibilities
    • Develop in-depth knowledge of the industry, markets, and the competitive landscape
    • Conduct market research to identify future ingredients and/or markets that can be served by Amyris' technology platform
    • Identify ingredient targets with the technical and commercial characteristics prime for biotechnology solutions
    • Coordinate communications and preparation for customer and collaborator interactions
    • Build successful long-term relationships with key partners
    • Manage and execute market research and business case development programs
    • Assist in ideation pipelines utilizing internal and external resources (commercial and R&D leadership, external partners, universities, think tanks, consultants)
    • Link and foster excellent working relations within the company and industry
    • Track market and consumer trends to support market strategies
    • Support deal negotiations through market and financial analysis and presentation material generation
    • Support travel, meeting planning & critical follow-up actions to enable business growth
    • Occasionally conduct research to support other divisions and/or administration


Qualifications
    • BS or MS in Science, Engineering, or Business
    • 3-5 years of experience in a relevant business sector
    • Strong understanding of biotechnology is a plus
    • Excellent analytical, written and verbal skills
    • Some travel may be required
