POSITION SUMMARY


Under the Clinical Logistics Directors direction, the Clinical Logistics RN Manager oversees operations of the Patient Flow Department and Nursing Resources Department. This Mgr. supports the hospitals overarching patient flow objectives as they relate to patient assignments, resource staffing to demands, customer service and capacity optimization.



The Clinical Logistics RN Manager:
  • Is responsible for the assignments of all patients requiring nursing unit bed assignments including observation, inpatient and post procedural patients. This is achieved by collaborating with physicians, nursing and diverse hospital departments to oversee assignments according to units scope of service, admission criteria, patient flow algorithms and hospital protocols.
  • Leads multiple, continually changing priorities to make rapid decisions, problem solve and ensure appropriate, timely assignment of patients.
  • Maintains strong collegial interdepartmental relationships to ensure ongoing performance improvements.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for patient assignment decisions.
  • Collaborates with Physician Advisor/designee for dispute resolution of patient assignment decisions, focusing on transfers in/out of the organization including compliance reviews.
  • Oversees systems for staff scheduling and patient flow.
  • Oversees Nursing Resource Department, serving as a leader resource for the department.
  • Collaborates with Administrative Nursing Supervisors and other Clinical Managers to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Ensures all policies and guidelines are carried out for Patient Flow and Nursing Resource Departments.







QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. Bachelors in Nursing or Allied Health required, Masters degree preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current RN licensure in the State of New Jersey required

EXPERIENCE/COMPENCIES REQUIRED:
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience including clinical practice experience required.
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated management experience in hospital operations or a clinical department is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, continually changing priorities to make rapid safe decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and implement change.
  • Demonstrated highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of effective, agile technology adoption.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a group leader and participant.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple members other health care and administrative leadership team.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, develop conceptual designs for supporting clinical services as well as to plan and lead successful projects.
  • Demonstrates use of the organizational process improvement process.
  • Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call, and overtime required.



Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent delegation, technology, and analytic skills preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in scheduling, clinical and patient flow information systems required at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 60-90 days from date of hire.

Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.



WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position requires sitting, standing, walking, and stooping a majority of the workday. Works with the following equipment daily: computer terminal, fax machine, printer and copier.

This position reports to department leadership and supervises incumbents as assigned.
