REPORTS TO (Title): VP of Travel & Flight Ops

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities of a Chief Pilot
  • Manages all facets of the Corporate Flight Department including flight operations, aircraft maintenance, finances, purchasing, hiring, and hangar administration
  • Ensures safe and efficient flight operations
  • Responsible for the professional standards of the crewmembers
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable FAA and State Regulations as well as federal laws
  • Ensures compliance with all national and local environmental laws and requirements
  • Establishes standards for employee recruitment, conducts pre-employment interviews, and selects new employees
  • Participates in the Safety Management System.
  • Perform duties as PIC or SIC

Job Responsibilities of a Pilot-In-Command, PIC
  • Final authority for the operation of the aircraft assigned.
  • Ensure familiarity with all available information required for the safe operation of the flight.
  • Responsible for safely conducting an assigned flight considering, but not limited to the following items:
  • Reviewing the maintenance status of the aircraft to ensure the aircrafts airworthiness.
  • The conduct of a proper preflight inspection in accordance with the approved Aircraft Flight Manual or accepted preflight checklist.
  • Complete a check of weather and facilities along the route to be flown and airports to be used.
  • Ensure the flight is conducted in accordance with the policies and procedures of this Manual and applicable regulations.
  • Determine that weight and balance procedures are followed, and that the gross weight and CG of the loaded aircraft are within limits for operation.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the passengers, aircraft and crew members.
  • File a flight plan as required by FOM.
  • Change, delay, discontinue, or cancel a flight when conditions are unsuitable or unsafe.
  • Accurate completion of all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures which includes all required documentation for international operations.
  • Make an immediate report to using a Hazard Report on any hazardous event.

Job Responsibilities of a Second-In-Command, SIC
  • Support the Pilot-in-Command with:
  • Safe conduct of the flight.
  • Ensure that manuals, charts, catering and other customer specific special items are on board the aircraft and that the aircraft is clean.
  • Any additional duties assigned by the Pilot-In-Command.
  • Develop the leadership skills, knowledge, judgment and technical ability required of a PIC, if not already qualified.
  • Make an immediate report to using a Hazard Report on any hazardous event.

Qualifications

Work Experience
  • 7 - 10 years of experience
  • 5,000 hours Flight Time
  • 1,500 PIC
  • 500 Multi-Engine Turbine


Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

  • Holds a valid Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
  • Holds a type rating for at least 1 of the types of aircraft operated, if applicable
  • Possesses a First Class FAA Medical Certificate
  • Holds or has held an appropriate certificate, or has acquired supervisory experience
  • Possesses knowledge with respect to the operation of the Flight Department, the content of the Flight Operations Manual, the provision of Title 14 of the CFRs, and the standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities to ensure safety
  • Possesses a Bachelor Degree (highly desirable).


Knowledge/Skills
  • Holds a college degree or equivalent course of study in an accredited aviation management program.
  • Holds a valid Airline Transport Pilot License with type ratings for the aircraft operated.
  • Is qualified in accordance with the Training Program to act as a pilot-in-command on at least one of the types to be operated.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the content of the FOM, Training Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures and the provisions of the FAA civil aviation regulations and standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of management techniques and communication skills (both verbal and written) required in this position.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of Excel and Word.
