What you will do:

The Associate Vice-President of Human Resources will manage all Human Resources functions within the organization including: organizational design and development, talent acquisition and management, onboarding and orientation, compensation, workforce planning employee development, and benefit administration. You will bring strong analytical and quantitative abilities along with technical experience. The essential responsibilities in this role include a focus in these areas:

Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with leadership to bring innovative solutions to the organization that embrace emerging trends in technology, adhere to federal regulations and guidelines, and support the execution of our strategic plan.

  • Partner with the Corporate Development Team to define workforce and staffing strategies to ensure The Center can attract and retain the talent it needs to achieve its objectives in a fiscally responsible way.

  • Consult and guide organizational design and development initiatives that promote efficiency, collaboration, and innovation across the organization.

Functional Management & HR Operations

  • Establish and implement competitive and cost-effective HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the company's mission and strategic vision.

  • Develop and implement the HR budget ensuring that resources and operations deliver value and support The Center's cost-effective environment.

  • Lead the Human Resources department which includes the Benefits Administrator, Talent Acquisition Specialist, HR Specialist, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging Coordinator to effectively collaborate on all human resources processes and projects.

  • Oversee the HRIS to maintain coworker confidential information, generate staffing reports, deploy engagement surveys, and streamline performance management.

  • Manage the ATS along with the Talent Acquisition Specialist including requisition creation, job postings, candidate pipelines, offer letters, and metric reports.

  • Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends including regular review of reports and metrics from the organization's HRIS and ATS.

  • Monitor and ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices.

  • Reviews and modifies policies and practices on a regular basis to maintain compliance with all regulations, including program-specific changes and organizational updates.

Liaison to the Board of Directors

  • Provide consultation and guidance to the Board to oversee the CEO's leadership development, compensation, and executive benefits.

  • Provide support to the Board in the CEO's performance management process.

  • Support the Board to establish a sound plan of CEO succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of The Center's mission.

  • Prepare and present the requested human resources information to the Board which identifies trends and anticipates changes regarding staffing and overall human resources operations.


Who we are looking for:

The Coordinating Center is seeking a mission-driven candidate that comes with a positive and goal-focused attitude to support the needs of our organization. The Associate Vice-President of Human Resources will demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement while working with a large nonprofit in a remote setting.

Specifically, we are seeking candidates with:

  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred or an equivalent job experience with proven success in running the HR functions to lead change or business transformation.

  • A minimum of ten years of HR experience, with at least three years of supervisory experience.

  • At least two years in a Healthcare and/or nonprofit setting.

  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred.

  • Strong experience and practice application in key HR Functions including: workforce planning, talent acquisition and career development, onboarding and orientation, compensation and benefits, learning and development, employee relations, and human resources operations.

  • Solid understanding of project/program management within a human resources department.

  • Thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to wage and hours, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, human resources laws and regulations, corporate compliance and other federal, state and county-specific regulations.

  • Visionary leader with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization in support of the strategic plan and policies & procedures through strong relationship management skills to champion change at all levels.

  • Demonstrated servant leadership philosophy using excellence in communication and interpersonal relationship skills to connect effectively with people at all levels throughout the organization.
