The Research and Science Portfolio in Program

Pew's Research and Science portfolio supports and produces rigorous, relevant, and objective research and reporting which is fundamental to the success of the organization and to stakeholders and decision-makers around the world. The portfolio works with teams across the institution to help ensure all Pew's research is methodologically sound, accurate, and high-quality and serves as a centralized hub within Pew for specialized research and technical skills. Research and Science manages Pew's scientific grant and fellows programs which support innovative biomedical research and marine science, and oversees projects that provide valuable research and information to decision-makers and the public, support a culture of evidence, and build bridges between researchers and stakeholders.

Research Review and Support and Conservation Science
Research review and support (RRS) and the conservation science (CS) program are both part of the Research and Science portfolio.

RRS facilitates the research process across all Pew programs and projects. Staff help ensure the integrity and quality of all research outputs, including reports, surveys and polls, literature reviews, and data collection and analysis. This work involves taking a research concept from initial hypothesis and proposal through post-analysis data checks, fact checking, and peer review. RRS advises project teams on the best methodological or analytical approaches, datasets and, if appropriate, external vendors to achieve desired outcomes. RRS staff also provides direct research assistance, most commonly data collection and literature reviews, as required. Finally, RRS fosters a Pew research community that leverages and builds staff expertise, tools and capacity across project teams and on a wide range of topics and disciplines. On behalf of projects, RRS coordinates with other Pew divisions and departments involved in the research process. The aim is to help ensure excellent, unimpeachable research outputs that significantly impact major policy changes at the federal, state, local, and international levels.
