The Associate Director of Stockton Cares serves as a member of the Vice President for Student Affairs' Leadership Council and is a key member of the Care, Advocacy & Inclusion strategic area under the Office of the Dean of Students. This position is a primary, front facing point of contact for students, staff, faculty, families, and other stakeholders and reports directly to the Dean of Students. The Associate Director of Stockton Cares serves a critical role in the comprehensive success of Stockton University students. This position is responsible for significant outreach to students, faculty, staff, parents/guardians, community, and human service providers. Specifically, the Associate Director of Stockton Cares works directly with students on non-clinical matters which could be or become barriers to their graduation and/or retention.



Responsibilities:
  • Provide support, assistance, direct service, intervention, coaching and follow-up to Care incidents and referrals related to students in distress and their ability to successfully manage the college environment. Provide managerial level support specific to issues, questions and concerns that arise daily
  • Serve as a confidential employee, working directly with students, faculty, and staff to provide support and referrals for critical incidents and other high-level issues and concerns on behalf of the Dean of Students
  • Conduct intake, assessment, and make appropriate referrals. Assist students with focusing on future-based solutions to obstacles while creating short- and long-term success plans
  • Provide resources and services to students that are facing a myriad of challenges, including but not limited to death of a family member, serious medical illness, pregnancy and parenting support, housing and/or food insecurity, mental health concerns, academic accommodations and various individual concerns that could become a barrier to graduation, retention, or student success
  • Serve as a primary resource to inquiries, concerns, and opportunities on behalf of the Care, Advocacy & Inclusion area. Assist in managing crisis and/or emergency situations pertaining to students
  • Develop a comprehensive network of collaborative relationships within the University and the surrounding community to effectively assist and refer students
  • Create detailed documentation of student concerns and progress. Maintain case records, confidential files and Maxient student data management system
  • Follow-up with departments and community agencies to determine and/or recommend best resources available to students in need of support
  • Serve as a member of the Behavioral Intervention Team and Stockton Cares team
  • Collaborate with University stakeholders to provide Care case updates and develop action plans. Track caseload, create semester data pulls, analyze data, and create plans to best serve current trends
  • Alert Dean of Students to emergent and critical issues and act as liaison to other institutional resources on behalf of students or other stakeholders
  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality while remaining in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards
  • Other Duties as Assigned


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work or other related areas
  • Evidence of knowledge of best practices in college student non-clinical case management
  • Evidence of understanding of FERPA, HIPAA, Title IX, Clery Act, and trends in legal liability
  • Evidence of leadership, interpersonal communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with campus stakeholders about coordinated strategies for students of concern.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work or other related areas
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead, develop and manage professional staff in a collective bargaining environment
  • Active membership and involvement with national college/university case management professional associations.
