This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position.

Reporting to the Director, Career Education and Development, the Associate Director will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Career Education and Development office. This includes overseeing the assessment of programmatic areas and the collection of graduate outcomes data, serving as the point person in leading a team-oriented approach to comprehensive data collection and analysis, and assisting with the alignment of outcomes with office goals, unit goals, divisional priorities, and institutional pillars.

  • Assist the Director in the overall supervision of Career Education & Development office, including the management of day-to-day operations in absence of the Director; collaborate with Director in oversight of strategic planning, internal processes, reporting, and overall department direction and office management
  • Promote adherence to office procedures and deadlines as it relates to the overall operation of Career Education & Development; assist in upholding ethical and professional conduct in accordance with National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) guidelines and principles
  • Collaborate with the Director to lead, elevate, and maintain the offices brand both internally and externally, with effective promotion of extraordinary, value-added benefits in consistent messaging across all constituents (e.g., host vision talks with faculty, Assistant Deans, and Deans)
  • Assist with all day-to-day operations, coordination, marketing, program planning, and other activities related to the Student Career Collaboratory, a student-centered career lab
  • Manage departmental data collection and analysis of the First Destination Survey (FDS) to include initial and follow-up collection efforts; work closely with Institutional Research to access graduate data, develop executive summaries and other reports as requested, and submit final data to NACE annually; create monthly, term, and annual reports to share campus wide; serve as lead in developing and maintaining current FDS information and related databases for employment statistics, including salary information; develop and manage collection methods for all student post-graduation employment data/outcomes, tabulate results, and prepare graphically enhanced annual report
  • Coordinate and manage evaluation, assessment, and reporting practices; manage and develop tools and technologies to analyze student outcomes and track success (e.g. FDS, internship participation, career readiness); conduct analytics training, strategic planning, and survey development; manage the assessment of learning outcomes for programmatic areas that expand access to experiential learning
  • Oversee the delivery of programs and services within the framework of a career community model to include expanding access to experiential learning opportunities to underrepresented students, and the management of specific career communities when necessary
  • Manage data collection and analysis for all student engagement: student development programming, career fairs, on-campus interviews, coaching appointments, and other initiatives to measure accountability, effectiveness, and impact; prepare, develop, and create internal reports that incorporate the alignment of outcomes with unit goals, divisional priorities, and institutional pillars
  • Conduct regular meetings with Assistant Directors to assess individual and team needs and progression towards career community, office, unit, division and institutional goals
  • Serve as the primary administrator for Handshake, the office's career management platform; provide staff trainings on basics, updates, and best practices for using Handshake
  • Provide updates to Director, offer suggestions for future initiatives, programs, and strategies based on collection and analysis of recruiting and outcome related data (through employer and student surveys); work with Professional Services Specialist 3 (PSS3) to troubleshoot, generate, create data reports and visualizations to share with campus stakeholders and other appropriate audiences
  • Assist Director with the coordination and execution all career fairs and other large-scale events
  • Other Duties as assigned by Director, Assistant Vice President for Student Transitions, Access and Retention Programs, and or divisional Vice President


Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in higher education, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 4 years, progressive experience in higher education career services
  • Demonstrated experience with student learning outcomes, assessment, and data analysis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong technical skills and experience working with career management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration or related field
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in delivery of career development services, supervisory and management experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of student and career development theory as well as data-informed decision-making
  • Grant writing expertise with the ability to communicate ideas to large groups and executive leaders
  • Membership in career service-related professional organizations and/or associations
