About JFF's Center for Apprenticeship and Work-Based Learning:

In 2017, JFF launched the Center for Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning (the Center) to spur mainstream adoption of innovative and high-quality apprenticeship and work-based learning programs. The Center works to expand apprenticeship and work-based learning programs into new industries, and fosters access and success for a broader, more diverse group of workers. The Center serves a range of stakeholders, including employers and industry groups, state and local agencies, community colleges, and other workforce system partners, to advance policies, practices, and support for growing apprenticeship and work-based learning. About the Position:

Reporting to the Project Director, the Associate Director (AD) will manage projects focused on apprenticeship and other types of work-based learning in the Center and may also contribute to workforce development projects within JFF's other units. The AD will lead multiple project teams that contribute to a major body of work focused on the development of apprenticeship and work-based learning systems and programs across the US. The AD will have knowledge and experience working with federal, state and/or local apprenticeship or other types of work-based learning programs, and leading and delivering technical assistance to workforce development boards, community colleges, industry associations, employers, and other key workforce and education stakeholders.

What you'll do:
  • Lead teams focusing on key areas of work including, developing apprenticeship, work-based learning, partnership building, program registration, employer engagement, and other types of workforce development and education strategies
  • Oversee programmatic operations, including budget, staffing plans, and partnership development and management
  • Lead the provision of technical assistance to grantees and partners in shaping their policies and programs
  • Direct primary and secondary research to identify and analyze best practices for finding and supporting populations with high barriers to academic and job success.
  • Manage project evaluation, analysis, data collection, and data quality reviews with grantees, third party evaluators, and other members of the project team
  • Act as a content expert and thought leader for the Center's programmatic efforts through creating policy briefs and analytical content that shares insights about program outcomes and learnings
  • Serve as an external face for the Center, representing programmatic activities at speaking engagements and on social media

  • Significant years of experience in apprenticeship and other forms of work-based learning,workforce development and related topics
  • Exceptional analytical, research and writing skills, including experience generating reports and proposals
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of leading large, complex projects that include grants and budget management
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate across multiple projects and teams
  • Compelling verbal and written communication skills with the ability to share the story of the Center to internal and external facing audiences
  • Values diversity, equity and inclusion as an applied practice to all areas of work, including program, partnership and team management
  • Committed to the promise of apprenticeship and work-based learning
  • Willing to travel (up to 15%)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce
