With 80% of children and families living below the federal poverty level, the program serves infants, toddlers, and preschoolers from infancy to age six in a year-round, full-day Montessori and Early Head Start/Head Start setting.

Family Star Employment Opportunity:

Family Star is currently seeking to fill the temporary position of Assistant School Director for our Northwest Denver location. This position has the potential to turn into a full-time, permanent position. Major Assistant School Director Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist in the management and monitoring of classroom activities and other aspect of compliance including but not limited to State Licensing, Early Head Start/Head Start, , Colorado Shines, CPP/DPP/e-Cares/Mill Levy, NAEYC

Assist in the management of daily and long term staffing plans including maintaining ratios, after-hours child care, tracking time-off, and opening/closing the building as needed.

Serve as a member of the health team; ensuring adherence to Family Star and licensing policies regarding illness exclusion, health emergencies, data entry of health related notes, and medication administration for children.

Provide classroom coverage as needed to maintain proper ratios.

Serve as back up for administrative assistant by answering multi-line telephone, greeting guests and scheduling tours. Direct calls and inquiries to appropriate person and track inquiries.

Support with tracking daily attendance, including ELV and CCAP transactions.

Participate in various programmatic meetings with members of the center team, program team and teaching staff to ensure effective center operations.

Serve as a Family Star representative at external meetings as requested by the School Director.

Act as the School Director and complete all School Director responsibilities in his/her absence.


Assistant School Director Requirements:

BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or related field or BA/BS in non-related field along with three years or more experience teaching in the classroom.

Must meet State of Colorado Department of Human Services Center Director Qualifications and must have and maintain current center director licensure.

2-3 years supervisory experience in an early childhood education setting.

Prefer 1-3 years of experience working in a Montessori setting.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office experience.

Must have supervisory experience.

Must be motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Must demonstrate a positive attitude with a commitment to customer service.

Must have oral and written proficiency in the English language.

Must be able to work the hours of the position based on the organization's needs.

Must have current Infant/Child CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions, and Medication Administration or they must be obtained within the initial review period.

Must complete clearance of a background check, post-offer, pre-employment physical, and TB test.

This position requires the ability to perform the following job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodations: driving/sitting a car; walking; standing; bending; typing; kneeling/sitting on the floor; rising from kneeling/sitting position; lifting and carrying children up to age 6 years of age; and raising arms above the head; independent thinking, and ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
