This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position.

The School of Behavioral and Social Sciences invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor Position in the Social Work program, starting September 1, 2023. The position requires an MSW degree from CSWE accredited program and a Ph.D. in Social Work or D.S.W. is strongly preferred. Minimum of two years post-MSW practice is required. Excellent teaching at the college level in social work or a related field is expected along with a focused research agenda and service to the program, community and profession. Candidates should be able to teach across the curriculum but especially research, history of social welfare policy and social work methods and skills courses. Expectation to teach in the BSSW program at the main Galloway Campus, both day and evenings, with opportunities to also teach at our anchor campus in Atlantic City. Candidates are expected to advise students regarding their educational and career goals. Experience with culturally diverse populations is required and experience with culturally diverse populations in an academic setting is preferred.

  • Candidates will be expected and be able to teach 3 courses per semester in social work practice, research, and social welfare policy areas, of both day and evening course offerings
  • Service to the program, profession, community, and University is also expected as well as engagement in a program of scholarship
  • Additional responsibilities include accreditation activities, curriculum development, and student advisement as negotiated under the collective bargaining agreement
  • The candidate will support Stockton Universitys diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission


Required Qualifications:

  • MSW degree from CSWE accredited program
  • Two years post-MSW practice required
  • Teaching experience at the college level in social work or related field
  • Professional experience with culturally diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Social Work or DSW degree
  • Experience teaching research, policy, and/or practice skills courses
  • Professional experience with culturally diverse populations in an academic setting
  • Demonstrated experience with accreditation processes
