About the role

As an Assistant Editor, youll apply and develop your editorial, organizational, interpersonal, creative-thinking, and leadership skills from day one. Every day is different, but here is a sample of what you can experience and accomplish:

  • Working closely with authors to develop engaging, high-quality digital and print materials, and coaching authors on procedures, house style, structure, tone, level, pedagogy, digital enhancements, and content-delivery preparations.
  • Building positive relationships with authors and between authors and the Press to ensure effective and mutually rewarding product development experiences.
  • Managing an exciting range of 1012 projects in a diverse range of subject areas to strengthen and increase the Presss market penetration and deliver products to market at the optimal time.
  • Engaging academic experts in peer review and assessing and synthesizing their feedback to guide authors on the execution of a product plan.
  • Researching and developing art programs to create compelling, cost-effective visuals to complement exposition and provide an optimal learning experience.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure successful, on-time product launches and the associated tools to drive the sales and marketing campaigns.
  • Working alongside the broader technology team to develop engaging ancillary products and digital assets to support and enrich learning experiences.


About you

  • The ideal candidate is self-motivated, proactive, receptive to feedback, and learns quickly
  • Project management experience, with strengths in budget and schedule maintenance, a plus
  • Excellent demonstrated writing, editing, and researching skills
  • Ability to work consistently within established timelines
  • Strong communication, with the ability to balance a variety of responsibilities
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a virtual environment


This position is located in Toronto, Canada
