SUMMARY: Woodwell Climate Research Center (Woodwell) is the leading independent climate research institute, with a mission to advance science-based climate policies through scientific research and outreach. The keys to Woodwells success are the quality of its research and the ability to deliver that science to policymakers and decision makers.

We seek an Assistant Director of Facilities to support the Director of Facilities in overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day management of the Woodwell Climate Research Center Campus. Under the oversite of the Director of Facilities, they assist in the management of the internal and external maintenance of the Campus buildings; including performing day-to-day maintenance, both preventative and emergency repairs. Responsible for shipping and receiving of mail and packages. This position participates in on our campus wide net zero project. The ideal candidate is capable of performing all work in a safe and judicious manner.


  • Manage shipping and receiving function: including internal mailbox system, delivering mail and packages to staff mailboxes and offices, managing shipping supplies for staff (USPS and FedEx branded packaging), Pitney Bowles USPS machine, shipping of work-related packages for staff (including computers), supports scientific staff with shipping supplies to the field.
  • In collaboration with others work on the Woodwell Campus net zero project.
  • Maintenance of lighting, HVAC systems, and components
  • Work with outside contractors as needed for Campus improvements, safety inspections, and other tasks as needed
  • Painting and drywall repair
  • Equipment maintenance and repair
  • Landscape and lawn maintenance
  • Snow removal
  • General cleaning
  • Communicate with staff, contractors, and the general public
  • Perform other maintenance tasks as required

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent diploma/GED
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with reviewing contracts.
  • Experience with grounds care and building maintenance
  • Ability to work with motorized equipment in inclement weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50lbs
  • Excellent cleaning and maintenance standards
  • Ability to use a computer, familiarity with the google suite preferred

Classification and Compensation: This is a full-time exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
