The campus ministry department is searching for an Assistant Director of Ecumenical & Interfaith position responsible for supporting the spiritual and liturgical life of Loyola University Maryland. A successful candidate will assist students in the exploration, development, and appropriation of their faith. Organize and coordinate ecumenical and interfaith ministries, dialogue, and programming. Additionally, this individual will nurture relationships and connections with students, faculty, staff/administrators, and faith leaders from various traditions.
The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the spiritual and liturgical life of Loyola University Maryland. They will assist students in the exploration, development, and appropriation of their faith. The incumbent will organize and coordinate ecumenical and interfaith ministries, dialogue, and programming. This person will nurture relationships and connections with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and faith leaders from various traditions. They will be dedicated and experienced in accompanying university students, providing spiritual and pastoral care, working across religious traditions, and have a grounding in their own traditions. This person will promote and support the Jesuit Apostolic Preferences: showing the way to God, walking with the marginalized and vulnerable, accompanying young people in the creation of a hope-filled future, and collaborating in the care of our environment. The assistant director will work in close collaboration with the Campus Ministry team to provide programming, care, prayer, and mentorship to the Loyola University community. The Assistant Director will report to the Interim Vice President for Mission.
Offers and coordinates interfaith education, outreach, and engagement. Coordinates ongoing programs such as; bible studies, Kosher and Halal dinner, spirituality panel, and interfaith week program. Organizes and facilitates University interfaith services including 9/11 interfaith prayer for peace, the Spring Semester University interfaith prayer service for hope and renewal, and prayer vigils responding to local and world events. Leads programming to celebrate Black history month. Creates and coordinates trainings and workshops to promote interfaith cooperation and dialogue, interfaith literacy, and engaging religious diversity. Identifies the needs of Loyola community members and provides resources and support. Co-leads Campus Ministry's pre-fall program. Co-leads formation and training for interns and student leaders on topics ranging from Ignatian spirituality, racial justice, and interfaith cooperation and dialogue. Leads annual interfaith retreat and Ignite retreat. Collaborates with the Campus Ministry team to lead Student Intern retreat.
Recruits, trains, and supervises Campus Ministry Interfaith interns and student leaders. Supervises two student interns and a graduate assistant to carry out the work of the office and this role. Supports and oversees Chosen Generation Gospel Choir and coordinates with the choir's music director and musicians to promote and schedule practices and performances.
Networks and coordinates partnerships with local and national faith/worship communities, organizations, and religious leaders. Assists students with access to faith communities, services, and ministries on and off campus. Acts as a primary liaison and resource for ALANA Services, faith-based campus groups (student clubs), faculty partnerships, and office collaborations. Engages faculty and administrators of other faiths to serve as mentors to students and their ministries. Convenes and facilitates Campus Ministry's Interfaith Advisory Board.
Provides pastoral care, spiritual accompaniment, and outreach to members of the University community. Serves as a ministerial resource in times of crisis. Represents the office and its pastoral role in varied university functions and committees.
Participates regularly in the prayer and worship life of the University. Participate in weekly staff meetings, semesterly team days, divisional gatherings, Campus Ministry events and celebrations, Fall and Summer Orientations, and Admissions' Open Houses. Participates in professional development opportunities.
