Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Assistant Director assists in the formulation and implementation of best practices, relationship building, marketing initiatives, and key programming efforts designed to have a positive impact on the enrollment behavior of students from diverse backgrounds. The Assistant Director will be creative, thoughtful, results-oriented, and student-centered. The Assistant Director will also support and advance the offices commitment to customer service, brand promise, personalization, partnerships, and pipeline development.

The Assistant Director will be the strategic thought-leader on issues related to diversity recruitment and pipeline programs, serving on the admissions office leadership team.

The Office of Admissions and Enrollments vision is to provide an integrated customer service experience from pre-inquiry to matriculant, including counseling, admissions, marketing communications, and recruitment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a student-centered, customer service-oriented strategy for cultivating relationships with prospective students from lead generation through registration and matriculation.
  • Primarily responsible for the development and implementation of the Universitys recruitment plan for increasing underrepresented student populations.
  • Work collaboratively with all admissions staff to coordinate and supervise diversity recruitment initiatives as assigned.
  • Liaise with and support the efforts of the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Oversee the creation and processing of applications for doctoral and graduate programs, including those from centralized application services.
  • Ensure that college, school, and program recruitment plans are appropriate to meet the enrollment goals of the individual programs and the university.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and develop admissions and recruitment staff.
  • Adhere to and recommend policies, procedures, and services that are conducive for student selection, matriculation, and program viability.
  • Collaborate with program directors to project and exceed enrollment goals.
  • Serves as primary contact for pre-professional advisors of the specific programs.
  • Present to prospective students, pre-professional advisors, and other contacts about specific programs.
  • Travel to various college fairs, high school/community college recruitment fairs, graduate fairs, admission events, and undergraduate institutions to promote specific programs.
  • Manage portfolio of high-priority, cross-functional projects.
  • Represent division at on-campus and external agency and stakeholder meetings, as necessary for effective collaboration to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment:

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in counseling, marketing, or related field.
  • Two to three years of progressively responsible experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated success at growing enrollment of individuals representing diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience delivering an outstanding, student-centered enrollment experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to work with a diverse team and student body effectively.
  • Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of current issues and challenges facing individuals representing diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate hands-on experience in the development, management, understanding, and maintenance admissions/recruitment systems and processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Google products, Slate or equivalent CRM, Zoom, and centralized application services.
  • Appreciation for various program delivery formats.
  • Ability to manage diverse tasks with frequent interruptions and meet deadlines with competing demands.
  • Ability to build and manage productive relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and self-confidence.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and technology skills.
  • Must be willing and able to travel.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in student personnel, student affairs, or related field.
  • Experience with health professions program administration strongly preferred.
  • Experience recruiting for online programs preferred.
  • Strong fluency with Ellucian Colleague, Slate, and centralized application services.
  • Ability to speak Spanish fluently is preferred, but not required
