Job Description:

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings young and mid-career professionals from designated countries to the United States for a year of non-degree academic study and professional development. Fellows are placed in cohorts at one of 13 selected host universities across the U.S.

This role serves a key purpose on the Humphrey Fellowship Program team - to support the Humphrey Fellows and host campuses to ensure that the program year proceeds as smoothly as possible. The environment can be fast-paced and exciting, with numerous competing priorities but the rewards of interacting directly with the Fellows and developing relationships with our program partners make the work gratifying. The work is varied, proceeds according to an annual cycle, and allows professionals to develop many different aspects of expertisefrom diplomatic soft skills to building process/operational efficiencies.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyzes program feedback in order to contribute to program advising best practices.
  • Ensures Advising systems contain up-to-date information on interactions, communications, and meetings with program stakeholders.
  • Ensures that participants receive best and most up-to-date information regarding the program as outlined in their Details of Award.
  • Maintains and expands up-to-date knowledge and information about program, international participant advising and partner relationship standards.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge and information of partner needs for the advising team.
  • Prepares and submits reports on program elements as contained in the program agreement(s) and ad-hoc as determined by program leadership.

The Institute of International Education ("IIE") has a hybrid work environment that allows team members a combination of in-office work and telework at any of the locations listed above.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Subject matter expert on higher education administration, relationship management, and participant advising.
  • Demonstrated track record of initiating, implementing, and successfully driving new processes or business relationships.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships within and across teams, managing relationships, and working with external partners at senior or executive levels.
  • Strong skills in customer service, including responding to concerns or trends with an eye for overall impact to IIE.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Experience creating and managing protocol and policies.
  • Ability to influence and communicate cross-functionally and across all levels externally.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Capable of operating effectively in ambiguous, constantly-evolving environments.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of team members and external contacts; sensitive to cultural differences when working with people from other cultures.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010; internet software and database software.

Salary Range: $63,299 - $80,845. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and geographic region.
